I noticed the 2012 Griso SE (now the only Griso available) is showing a price of $12490.  Versus the 2011 price of $14490.

I also noticed that the brakes on the SE no longer have the jagged/wavy discs, but seem to be the same as the old 2V Griso.

So, has the spec been dropped on the 2012 SE to allow a $2K drop in price?

If you want a pair of 'Braking' wave rotors to replace the stock Brembo rotors? I'll swap mine in an instant. I think it is quite possibly the silliest marketing scam I've ever seen on a motorbike. They are no better and may actually be worse in some ways than conventional rotors. Smoke and mirrors.

I don't doubt those discs are just a marketing ploy (my Buddy Blackjack scooter had them stock!), it is just interesting that they are no longer offered and the price apparently has dropped quite a bit on the bike.

Hmm, that's very interesting.   I had not noticed the $2000 price drop.  The steel wave disc still appear on the 2012 description from the ones I've seen...

The Euro is down thanks to Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and others dragging the European Union down.  That's good for European prices but bad for US export.  Maybe the Europeans are doing this to help their manufacturing sectors?

Whatever.   Lol

AT, I've been eyeballing the Griso 8V for a while now and the SE is one hot Italian Momma.  I also read road test reviews, watched videos, and it looks like the bike is getting great reviews.  It sounds awesome too.  For me, it's an updated aircooled Buell.  I like it.   Thumbsup

Under $13k for an Italian 1100cc Vtwin with shaft drive?  Orson is right.  Buy the damn thing already!

Are there any other Guzzi models with price drops, such as the V7 variants?   Headscratch

Does not seem so.

And the price drop is real.  Just checked w/ my local dealer.  2011 Griso SE is $14600, 2012 is $12600.

Interesting, thanks.  I wonder if the Griso-specific price drop is related to the rumored new Guzzi, the Strada.

Be a nice modern, emission compliant step in the right direction. Could have remained as the Griso as I don't think there is any bad baggage associated with that name, but a new name with this new platform could make it the first in a whole new Generation of MG bikes with no tether to an "old" model in perception and practice.

Piaggio has such great brands and if they keep the development on track and effectively ratchet up stability in their Dealerships and Marketing they could be kicking ass in so many categories.

I’m seriously considering the Griso.  I am pretty much smitten with it and can’t get it out of my head.   Inlove It’s going to be tough to swing financially putting my boys through college.

I can always give up eating.    Lol

The Moto Guzzi Griso SE now almost costs the same as a Honda 600cc sportybike...

That, my fine feathered friends, is incredible.

Moto Nexus in Hendersonville who have a good reputation currently have an 1100 on the floor for $5,850. It's a pretty good price for an 1100 in my book but I dunno what they're going for in the US now.

Hmm, their website only shows an 08 Griso w/ 20K miles for $8k

That is too much $.  (not that it matters as I much prefer the 8v motor)

More relevantly it is now priced in-line with the Ducati Monster 1100 and Speed Triples...  except I don't think the Griso SE has an ABS option.  Despite that it is a solid contender for my money, that's for sure.

But it does have an awesome CARC shaft drive system.  And is all round awesome too...

The bike I mention can be found spammed here

http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=51250.0

which I have no problem with because they aren't claiming its anything it ain't.

I too wouldn't voluntarily go back to a non-8V but it depends what you want. Lots of Griso 850's have been sold too and they don't set the world alight performance wise but they DO look good and go OK as long as you're cruel to 'em. Personally I'd take a Bellagio over an 850 Griso, but that's me.
