We've all had that ride where it's too damn hot, cold, wet, windy, foggy, dry, etc. But there's a temperature range that makes me forget whatever else is going on while riding. Mine is in the 65º-75ºF range. I've ridden 300 miles in a pouring down rainfall with the temps in the mid to upper 30's and 400 miles with the temps well above 100º. Hell, I've gotten up at 4AM in Needles, CA and the temp was still over 110º.  Crazy

So what's your comfort range?

About 68 to 78 with low humidity.  That's about perfect for me.

+1 and I think most will probably agree with that range.  Otherwise, I'm usually happy if it simply doesn't rain/sleet/snow.  Mid-Atlantic weather can go from one extreme to the other in the same week.

45 - 65

But not limited to either. I don't like sweating too much and even mesh can be hot.

As cold as 28 - 35ish for up to 45 minutes with no heated gear.

Maybe it is a combination of living in the south and getting older.  I used to ride in just about any weather (as long as I could get the bike started).  Now if it dips below 50 or so, I'm driving the car...

The perfect temperature for me is somewhere between 75 and 78.  It's warm enough to not feel too cool yet it's not warm enough to sweat.  Also, it feels like the tires work with the pavement very well in that range.  When it's too cool, the tires really don't feel quite right and when it's too hot the asphalt paved roads start to feel too greasy.

All that said, I prefer riding when temps are in the range of 40-85.  I've ridden in temps as low as the mid teens and as high as the low 100s.  Riding just isn't that fun in those temps.

Hmm... for dirtbiking I like the mid 50's, touring the mid 70's and canyon carving the mid 80's (you sweat a little but the tires stick better Wink).

That range is perfect. Though I have the stuff to be comfortable in a much wider range, 65-75 is just right.

Fuck Papa Laz for being right!   :two finger:

Perfect world for me? 58-62 degrees farenheit.  Just cold enough to get a bite in the air, not enough to really need to resort to electrics.

But truthfully, anything above freezing.  Fukin' Papa Laz.   :two finger:

(PS:  I've ridden in 120 degree temps pretty regularly.  You KNOW it's hot out when...you SHIVER hitting 100 degrees on the Coast.)

50-70 is ideal with low humidity as somebody mentioned.

My real world dictates 20-90.

Heated gear or not, it gets cold below 20-25 and anything over 85 the Motoport mesh is the only thing that saves my ass.

I'd say 50-90. I'll happily ride in other weather, but that range is by far the preference.

For short rides (less than 1hr each way) I'll ride down into the 20's as long as there's no snow cover on the roads. Snow + sportbike tires = EEK!
For my normal riding I like it from 40 on up to whatever. I've yet to find "too hot".
Ideally I like it between 80-90. I live for the hot weather.  Cool

So what's your comfort range?

The hottest temps I've ridden in was over 115 going thru Wendover, UT in the summer of 1998.  That was part of a 3 week/6000 mile trip that included visiting the Grand Canyon, the BMW MOA Rally in Missoula MT and the Top O' The Rockies Rally in Paonia, CO.  Luckily it was a dry heat  Bigsmile.

The coldest was 22 degrees riding to Dallas (100 miles from my place) for a bike show, no heated gear.  I was hugging the engine during that ride.  Both these trips was on a BMW K75.

This last summer in Texas was the worst for riding.  Several days of 100+ temps took the joy out of getting on a motorcycle for me.  It was hot even with mesh gear.  I left my helmet faceshield closed, otherwise it was like riding into a blow dryer set on high.

For me the perfect riding temps range from the high 50's to the high 70's.  East Texas does get some beautiful riding weather, even in the dead of winter.  Last Saturday it got up to 77 with clear skies.  But I had to work that day and wasn't able to take advantage of the riding  Sad.  Did get in a short ride on Sunday, nothing intense just a sport-cruise,  it was 68 and beautiful.
