Hard bags and Trunk on Ninja 1000

Has anyone put the V35 hard bags and a top case on a Ninja 1000? I'm trying to decide between the SW Motech motech mounts and the Givi's...pros vs cons?
Thanks

I have not used these setups on your bike, but have on others. I like the SWMotech stuff hands down. The givi racks are bulky and ugly. With the SWmotech you can also get quick disconnects to remove the racks easily.

The Givi racks are now quick release as well with the main difference I see being that the Givi ones makes you use different grab handles (I think to keep the bags closer to the bike).
http://www.giviusa.com/My-motorcycle/?ma=KAWASAKI&mo=Ninja-1000
http://shop.sw-motech.com/cgi-bin/cosmoshop/lshop.cgi?action=showdetail&wkid=132444541826866&ls=en&nc=1324445474-27396&rubnum=brands.kawasaki.z1000sx&artnum=KFT.08.184.15000/B&id=13&gesamt_zeilen=Tshowrub--brands.kawasaki.z1000sx&typid=51911980
I also think the SW Motechs make you buy a locking mechanism to keep someone from using the quick disconnects to swipe your bags but those are $40 as opposed to Givi which gives you holes to padlock them on.
The big thing for me is construction. I want the ones that are more rugged especially for the top case (I'm thinking a V46) as I want my wife to have a back rest. FYI the top case will be empty when riding as my plan is just to use it to store our gear when we stop.

The Givi's are a little bit narrower fitting than the SW-Motech mounts. The Givi mounts include slimmer replacement flat black grab rails which enable mounting hardware to fit underneath them. The grab rails sit closer to the seat than the stock ones, so the bags sit closer to the bike than any other solution.
The SW Motech ones leave mounting hardware on the outside of the stock grab rails, so they don't fit the bags quite as close to the bike and they are more obvious, when the mounts are removed.
Both the SW-Motech and Givi mounts feature quick disconnects so the mounts can be easily and quickly taken off the bike.
Either set up is much better than the factory stuff, which is not only roughly twice the price, but also hold the bags out and away from the bike the furthest of any mounts and can't be quickly removed from the bike,
Don't have enough experience with the SW-Motech mounts to know whether they are sturdier than the Givi mounts.

So have you seen the bike with the Givi mounts removed? How does it look with Givi's replacement grab handles?

I think it looks fine with the mounts removed. The replacement grab handles are slimmer, lighter looking and lighter weighing than the stock grab handles. I looked through my pics of the bike but couldn't find one that showed the grab handles with the mounts removed.
Here's what they look like with the mounts on.

I currently have the SWM Topcase mount on my Suzuki. I can say that it is bulletproof and very secure.

I guess the Givi racks have come a long way since the old wingracks - those were ugly as sin.

The Givi rack indeed fits closer to the bike than SW Motecs do. As fat as the V35 cases are it will add some cornering clearance. I have a scrape on my right case already.
I wasn't aware of replacement grab rails being available but that's ok since I don't carry pillions and use the rear seat cowl. A cover over the upper mount would have been nice though to help blend in with the tail.
I don't use the top rack but I have it. All I have to say is heavy, heavy, heavy. I find the N1k very undersprung as it is without adding more weight.
Doesn't seem to shake around and didn't break on my 40 mile off-road excursion in Death Valley.
I had to get a replacement left frame as the weldment was 1/2 off from the footpeg bracket and could not be mounted. Better now but not perfect.
Seems to be an ok system. QR works easily enough. Would have looked better with a cover over the upper mount where the grab rail used to be.
A little more expensive than SW Motec.
The only SW Motec one I've seen was on a showroom bike in Utah that had their SW molded soft luggage. The brief exam led me to believe the quality was equal to Givi. Probably came with better instructions, I'm willing to bet.

Ya the weight is definitely a concern but fortunately my wife and i together are only 260-270lbs so i think eveen fully geared up we'll be in good shape.
Haha ya that eouldn't be hard if my GIVI tank bag paperwork is anything to go by. Still I think the width plus the fact that they are a little cheaper has made my decision.
Thanks!
Sorry but what is QR?

The Givis are much better than the factory mounts, but they are about $100 more expensive than the SW-Motech mounts. The SW-Motech mounts handle the turn signal relocation a little better than the Givis. The turn signal wires won't reach with the Givi mounts unless you reroute them.
Unfortunately with two riders and loaded saddlebags and trunk, I'm pretty sure you're going to need to do something about the rear shock.
QR=quick release.

I forgot about that hassle. On my '11 bike, even re-routing the wiring didn't provide enough length to relocate the signals. I ordered a CustomLED integrated tail light as a result. Some state's LEOs may have a problem with this. But the clear lens is nice and matches the front signals.

Ordered it direct from
http://www.customled.com
They do blink twice as fast so you have to get the new relay. I have one but haven't hooked it up. Why? Because I can't seem to locate the stock flasher relay under my seat. I hear no clicking either. Made me wonder if the flashing is controlled by a logic circuit instead. I have not received my factory service manual yet so I could examine a schematic and figure out what to do.
However, it installs easily and there is a quick triple blink upon brake activation to get the attention of the person behind you. Very bright too. Looks great when the Q.R. Givi rack is removed.
