Just want to get some feedback on passenger comfort on the C14.  Was at the dealer and had my wife get on the back and she was quite surprised how comfortable it was, mind you we didn't,t take it out for ride.  So in the real world of touring, what is it really like?  Seat comfort, wind, etc...

A state of comfort is personal. I do know of a couple that bought a C14 and then rode in a 12 hour/ 1000km rally shortly after they bought it.

I think you will find that the C14 is significantly more comfortable for riding double than your Busa, it is also quite a bit heavier and carries its weight higher, especially with a passenger.  If I was going to ride double any distance it would be on my FJR.  The passenger seat is larger while the seat height and center of gravity is lower.

The only complaint my passenger has had is that the pegs are solid aluminum.  Without rubber inserts they do transmit vibration to the passenger's feet.

The issue of passenger comfort on a C14 came up in another thread and, aside from the aforementioned complaint about the solid aluminum pegs, this was my response:

I don't have any issues with my back, knees, or hips as a passenger on a Flying Pig.  We did upgrade to a Sargeant seat, but I never rode on the stock seat to be able to say how different they are.  We've done two five-day trips (one 1,300 miles and the other 1,700 miles) and I didn't have any specific complaints at the end of each day - just the general fatigue of a 200-300 mile day of twisties.


As for wind, I can tell when Cablebandit has switched out windshields, but it's not a huge difference, nor is it uncomfortable.  I'm fairly shielded on the backseat from a lot of airflow...enough to be protected when it's cool, but still get enough air when it's hot.  I'm 5'6" and I don't feel like I sit that much higher than Cablebandit who is 6'.  

In my "real world of touring," life is good on the back of a C14!

I've got a backrest on my C-14 & the girlfriend loves it. She say's it gives her a more connected feeling to the bike.

With the stock seat, the wife tended to slide forward and press on me.  She didn not mind the stock seat, but I replaced the stock with the heated corbin.  She loves the heated corbin.  She also likes a backrest.  Be it the rear trunk or the two different backrest that I have had.  She just feels safer when I do wheelies if she has the backrest to keep her on the bike.   Lol
