New bike?
«

I am now thinking of trading my Thunderbird 900 in-prices are rising on these bikes but I do want something with a bit more oomph. Without putting a Speed Triple engine in it.
I have always loved Guzzis-I've had three over the years.
So-the Griso. I hear the 1100 has more Guzzista charm than the 8v 1200.
But-I need an all round bike. Something that can tour but can also do the ride to work. The Tbird does this okay, but...
No Japanese bikes advice, please. No Ducatis or HD's either.
Advice?
Yes-this is also in MG....

You have a Triumph now - what about the new Tiger Explorer 1200? More oomph, capable traveler, not too portly for commuting, interesting triple engine (in between a 4 and a 2 cyl)...
I'm just sayin' it may be an option to consider....

If you want another classically-styled, gentleman's roadster, then I'd say go for the Griso. There aren't that many bikes that are in that league. Or just keep your Tbird, which is a fantastic bike.
But if you want Ooomph and to grow some hair on your chest, then get a Speed Triple 1050 or Street Triple 675. I know the Griso is more handsome and charming, but the Triumphs are downright more exciting IMO and I think you'd appreciate the triple engine again, going from the original 885cc configuration to the 1050 or 675 iterations.

Sprint. The 1050 is much more gentlemanly in the Sprint. If you need to avoid Triumph and what Itallian, the Griso looks nice. I can't comment on them - never had the pleasure of a Guzzi between the legs.

So much for the masculine mystique of Moto Guzzi.

Any thought about the MG Stelvio? Great all-rounder. After a few niggles with the intro model, MG seems to have gotten the '12 version properly set up.
