Just want to remind you winter warriors ( snowmobilers ) to take it easy on the trails. We had our fatality for the year last night. Please remind your friends to slow down. Thank you.

Alcohol + excessive speed + decreased visibility = disaster

Actually no. I'm surprised there are not a lot more accidents considering the usual intake witnessed. This time it was young guy going to fast, ski caught something and the sled went right into a tree.

Too much sled with too little experience? Like the snowmobile version of a noob squid on a liter bike?

What I was told, I was dispatched but never had patient contact; the ALS rig arrived just as we did, the sled went off the groomed trail a bit and the fluff just sucked him over.
Maybe a noob, I wasn't in a position to ask. I only had contact with with a friend of his that was helping on scene.

Had a friends wife hit a power transformer box that was hidden by the snow. It threw her off and she broke a few ribs.

I a very good friend of mine lost his teenage daughter to the booze/snowmobile.
It is heartbreaking.

Had another two days ago get hucked off his sled doing 60 over some bumps.
No real damage, but he did get knocked out. We gave him the full strap down/collar/backboard and off he went. Lucky.
