Welcome and congrats on gettin' the MSF completed.  That's a great start.

There are a couple of clubs in town, but *especially* since you're a new rider, I wouldn't get too carried away trying to do any group rides for a little while.  Besides, the clubs I do know of, I wouldn't ride with, and I've been riding for 13 or so years.  I've heard stories and I don't want to take the chances.

For some reason, one of them, the name is eluding me right now.  When it comes to me I'll post it up.

The OKC contingent needs to get together sometime for an eat and meet.  Follow the boards and I'm sure you'll find the info and you're definitely welcome to come along!

There are a select few people of the groups I'm aware of that I've seen ride like idiots a *lot*.  I don't like to ride with idiots.  Lol

They're they ones who rev the crap out of their bikes, make lots of noise, cut people off, etc.  That's not my thing.

Whereabout are you wanting to ride?  I don't get out and ride a bunch in the winter, but you're always welcome to come along.

Feeling safe riding solo will come with miles.  You just have to put them on.  There was a time when riding the 30 miles from my house to Moore seemed too far.  Now, I've ridden to Alaska, Key West, NYC, and everything in between and I look forward to being able to hit the open road!  Bigsmile

Just be patient and go at YOUR pace, and you'll be fine.  That's the important thing.  Don't try to keep up with whoever you're riding with.  Ride your pace.  They *should* wait for you or not run off and leave you anyway.

Its supposed to be nice this weekend 50's and 60's.  I'd like to ride somewhere in Oklahoma for some scenery (maybe a state park or something). I moved here a year ago and haven't seen the state really.  I want to avoid the interstate for a while also.

There is the Speed Tribe sportbike group which might be the one Gixster is talking about. As he previously mentioned there are some idiots and some good people in that group, you just have to sort out which are which. There is also an OKC section on Sportbikes Website.

Since you are new, you might go to some of the meet and greets but get some solo time in before deciding to ride with a group unless you feel that it is the type of riders who will genuinely help you. Most of all RIDE YOUR OWN PACE is the key, don't get caught up in any ego crap.

thanks, i agree.. I will not ride to a point that I feel uncomfterable at.  I'd just like to take some cruises with one or two people who can give me pointers and stuff.

Listen to Gixster he knows what he talking about.

When I first started riding on the street I did a lot of small towns right out side the city limits. Then as I got more comfortable I started going to the edge of the state. This year I been out of state three times its not much compare to some of these people on this board but it’s a start. don’t rush into this it will come for you to.

You are more than welcome to come with my son and me when take out riding I will try to post up before we leave.

This weekend would be nice but I am head to Vegas for the weekend.

As a member of the Tribe there are some stupid people that belong...but they have started a process by which they have hoped to limit and or eliminate the entrance of said people. (Not to say that some are not already in.)

The cool thing about the Tribe is they are more like a family, and have their own website. They do a lot more than just ride, fact you don't even have to have a bike.

There is also http://www.sportbike.ws. These guys are more of the "track" sort. BUT, they are all really cool guys and have a lot of fun.

Then you also have a new club http://www.ruffryders.com. They have have new chapter in OKC. Again, very cool group...
