Ok, so since this is the second time writing this I will make it dramatically shorter (my computer somehow dumped what I was typing previously for this post). If you guys need more details I will be glad to give them in subsequent posts. So my bike won't start.......no that's not the whole post. So key turned to on, everything works as normal. Flip red switch in preparation to start the bike, and lcd screen goes blank, dash backlight flickers, and FI light flashes. This only happens for 3-4 seconds then all is back to normal. I then proceed to push the start button, and lcd goes blank, and all the previous happens, but with some clicking like a starter working and the bike not turining over. I try to start the bike several more times and in that time pinpoint where the clicking is coming from. As far as I know it is not the starter, but I am a retard (no offense to anyone) and could be wrong. So you will notice in the middle of the pictures a red plug. That is the central location of the clicking. I have no idea what this part is, of if it can be fixed short of replacing it, of if that is the cause of my problem at all. Any guidance from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with the bike, but that looks to be a relay there, which explains the clicking. Sounds like a bad battery to me though - have you tested that yet?

Well, long story short, the bike was in transit for two months.  Yes the battery was originally dead, but was on a tender for 24hrs, and showed fully charged before I reinstalled it.

I'm still betting on the battery. Make sure the terminals are tight as well etc.

$10 on battery.

Well I don't know about 10 bucks, but if it turns out to be the battery, I will definitely think about giving you a certified limited edition " Ata Boy!".  I am going to put it back on the Tender till tomorrow afternoon and see what happens. Next step after that is a new battery.  If that doesn't work, then I can always return the battery.  Thanks for your time guys.

I have had the same thing happen to me several times.

You have a bad cell in the battery. When you push the starter button you put a load on the battery and the cell shorts out. When you take the load off it will come back to normal. It will still show 12+ volts just sitting.

You said the battery was dead and was recharged. Battery's don't like to go dead and some times when they are recharged it can damage them.

If you can find another battery, switch it and see what happens.

Edit: Put a volt on the battery and hit the starter. If the voltage drops to 0 and comes back to 11/12 volts after you release the starter button you have a bad cell.

DEAD battery....don't bother recharging...if its truly dead its DEAD it won't hold a charge so the Tender won't do crap.

Drop the dime on a new battery -- problem solved.

The clicking is the relay trying to trigger the starter, enough juice to trip the relay, but not enough to turn the starter over so it just sits and clicks.

So all you guys were right.  The battery was DEAD, put a new AGM battery in it today and it fired right up.  I feel like an idiot!  I know what it sounds like in a car when the it's pretty much dead and the starter is engaging, just never experienced it on a bike.  Thanks for the guidance.

Glad you got it working  Thumbsup - and yeap, if the battery reads good and just clicks when you try to start, it's almost always the battery  Shrug. Doesn't fail till it's under load and shorts.
