Will watch, thanks. The birth of SuperMoto as we know it today.
It took a little holiday between then and now, but it's back!
I remember watching this on the ABC Wide World of Sports back in the day.

Could you imagine doing that again today, except with Rossi, Stoner, Dovi, Pedrosa, Stewart, Villapoto, Dungey, Reed, Kopp, Gillim, Beach, And that old geezer Chris Carr, who was STILL RACING as of last year!

Sadly the Carlsbad Raceway is now an industrial park but you can see portions of the track still. And it wasn't that long ago that people raced there.
OTOH the Indian reservations have picked up the slack with the Barona raceway and Pala Raceway in the San Diego area

This was so much fun to watch -- makes you wonder what televised sports might have become if this had 2 or 3 points more in ratings . . . ..

The superbikers didn't need more ratings. It was one of the highest sports television programs of its time. Thats why they could pay good money and attract the big names.
There is plenty of regional supermoto racing these days and a new
pro supermoto series
this season. Check it out.
