From Honda

Quote

472 pounds. Includes all standard equipment, required fluids and full tank of fuel—ready to ride

Does it really need to be that heavy County?

I really don't understand all this automatic transmission crap on motorcycles. Comeon, I want to crack that next gear where I see fit. If i wanna short shift, wind it out, or keep it somewhere between, I can.

I couldn't imagine riding without shifting/clutching. I think offering ABS with that DCT is a total ass move.

But other than that, I think it's a pretty good looking and very practical package.

Anybody wanna get on the ground floor of a custom molded plastic auxiliary fuel tank that fits nicely inside that huge stupid storage compartment???

I sat on this thing at our local bike show.

I thought it would make a nice choice for my wife if she starts riding again, but nothing that really sparked my interest. (I would choose the new Strom or Super Tenure much before it).

There is currently no hard bag availability for this thing so calling it a tourer is a bit of a stretch.  Headscratch Unless of course you can pack everything you need for a trip in a space as large as your helmet.

When reported on the engine a few months ago on The Pace, Honda was purporting 72mpg as a high, 60-62 average, with ~55 under "heavy use".

That's pretty phenomenal.  Thumbsup

Most likely those numbers are in Imperial Gallons, not US.

Will be available is the key word here!

It looks like one will have to stand on those side cases to get a pair of jeans in. The person that designed those has obviously never travelled with my wife.  Bigsmile

I imagine those cases are slim so you can leave them on while commuting and not have a super wide motorcycle.  Also consider that the bike has built-in storage that others don't.  So the lack of space in side cases is somewhat negated.

I'm really surprised Honda put the meth pipe down and didn't give it an msrp of $11,999. Smile

I dunno. For what it is, seems like the Versys would be a better choice. More HP, lighter, bigger fuel tank.

Unless your tired of riding a 480 vibrator. I would trade my Versys for this mostly because its a Honda. The fit and finish would trump the hell out of the V and I am sure it does not vibrate like a jumping bean on crack.

It might be stroke of genius to wait until the summer to release such a bike.  Wait until the price of gas is nice and high and then release a motorcycle designed for good fuel mileage.

Oh, feck me in the heart and call me Shirley.  I actually like the looks of that Honda.  Release date?  Availability and cost for the bags out there yet?  I could see an aux tank being fitted to the gaping hole of a helmet stash.

That was my next stop after posting.   Lol  I like the adventure style bags on it as opposed to the "stylish" crap.  Useless, IMO.

I think it's great that Honda has finally decided to compete.

Nice looking bike - great for sight seeing rides and just riding w/o feeling the need to prove something - and a great price.

I hope Honda does really well with this as then they may realize they need to bring out product that makes sense.

I think I will look for a discounted left-over in 12 months. With that size of engine, I'm afraid the "normal" motorcycle market in the US will walk right past it in search of a liter bike with double the HP and torque.
