HELP

Today i was going out with the sled and when i stopped to get gas i notaced that the wheel was on an angle on the trailer. thinking the lugs came loose i looked at i closer and saw the spindle was braking off the axle. Rite now it is sitting at a friends townhouse west of St. Charles IL.

Does anyone have a snowmobile trailer i could use. I have no problem paying something to use it.

Tractor Supply, Northern Tool and probably Fleet Farm, IF there are any in the area should have a replacement axle that you could slip under there for about a couple of c notes.

Sled and trailer are back home.

Called a friend that had ATV,s and he had a 22ft trailer. Got my trailer and the sled on it. In all the haste to get this done i never got a pic of the rescue so you'll have to take my word that it did happen.

On the down side when we were getting my trailer on his trailer i slipped and hit my knee on the ground. It's a little sore now.

I checked Northern tool and they have axles from $49.00 to $99.00. I just have to take some measurements to find the rite one. The nice thing is they have a store on the south side of Milwaukee.

Got the axle off the trailer with the help of some power tools.

Took some searching but i found an exact replacement axle. Ordered the axle, tie plate kit, and a bearing set for $125.00 shipped.

You should see this guy's tires he rides and drives on...they make his trailer look mint!

We probably could call him Ed G. Sanford.

The axle came off of my first 3 place trailer that i bought back in 1976 that i scraped. The trailer itself is home made and it's a little over 10 years old. It's made with 2 inch tubing so i don't see it braking any time soon.

This summer I'm taking it in to get sand blasted and give it a new paint job.

Ed,

I have a 12' Utility Trailer with a 2" ball and a full-width beavertail ramp.  You are welcome to use it this winter...as I use it only for hauling lawn debris to the recycling center.

Haven't been home since Thanksgiving, though...so I don't know if it's "snowed in" at Chateau neuf de Cheddar.  I'll be back this weekend, so I  can let you know then....you could bring your truck up for coffee on Sunday in Brookfield.

Cheddar

PS:  Extra "Sandford" credit for using bandsawed blue barrels to keep the road spray off of the sled...   Lol Lol Lol

Thanks Charley for the offer. I found a new axle and hope it will be here the middle of next week. Won't be in need of a loner trailer since all the snow is mostly gone and it looks like no snow into the middle of next week.

I see you like the plastic barrel idea. Cheep and easy. It dose every thing the expensive ones do and it didn't cost me anything.
