I've got an old Canon TX, sort of a starter SLR for beginners, that I got when I was a teen. I occasionally loaded it up with B&W film and played around with exposure and aperture for artsy fartsy fun, but because digital is so convenient and economical I haven't picked it up in a few years.

My Contax RTS II gathers dust while I shoot digital.

I did the darkroom thing, and while it was great at the time, digital is worlds better.  And healthier.

I miss shooting film sometimes. All my good professional gear was sold along time ago.
Between myself and two friends we had a whole damn studio full of film gear and a major darkroom setup
capable of doing prints as large as 20x24.

Weddings killed it for me. I sold pretty much everything and got out of them. Used to screw up my summer weekends and during the
fall also.

Weddings.  Thumbsdown

Working with Bridezilla and her even more overbearing mother isn't photography. It's picture taking in a war zone with no Pulitzer in your future.

And getting all the shots during the reception that the bride said she wanted during the initial meeting but can't seem to find the time during the actual reception.  Thumbsdown

That's nice, but can it be made into jerky?

I have a Minolta X-700 too, along with a bunch of lenses and an autowinder.

The last time I used it for anything worthwhile was when we went to Australia back in 2002.  Between that camera and an APS (Advanced Photo System) camera I took, I shot 14 rolls of 20-exposure film in 9 days.  That was an expensive development cost...

That's the one thing I don't miss about film. I came back from my honeymoon with something like 40 rolls. Fortunately, most of it was chrome. My wife shot an additional 8 to 10 rolls of negatives so we had prints to pay for on top of the processing. I worked in a lab at the time so I got a decent discount but we probably spent close to $500 on proc and print for that trip.

I shot about 4 rolls at the koala exhibit in the Sydney Zoo alone:

Out of my 5 cameras, 2 are 35mm.

I miss the split prism focal system for manual focus SLR's.  When I want that feel of a gritty BW shot, I break out my Canon AE-1.

I just picked up some Zeiss glass.  It's manual only and it's a great fusion of the old feel with modern execution...and it's insanely sharp.
