Well, see here...what you do is...have breakfast at the Gateway and then turn left out of the parking lot.

 Bigsmile

Seriously:

Quote
Gateway Restaurant - If you're a tourist on the way to Spruce Knob National Recreation Area or a local in search of good country cooking, make it a point to try the food at the Gateway Restaurant, conveniently located on Route 33, two miles south of Riverton at the turnoff for Spruce Knob.

(This is the paved route.)

The route I put up is entirely paved.  Briery Gap from 28 to Timber Ridge is spectacular.

Thanks everyone.  I am setting up a trip for friday before we all meet at Boyer.  From Moorefield to Upper Tract 220 to Smoke Hole Road then up to cabins and down 28 to 33 down 257 close to Harrisonburg back up 250 to 92 back around through 33 to 28 again.  But I wanted to show my wife the top of the Spruce knob mountain.  Thanks again.  See y'all in May.....

Timber Ridge is just the first intersection you come to on Briery Gap Road.  It's pretty twisty from 28 up to that point then it's just a mellow ride to the top from there.
