Yep, among other things of course.

A member of my gaming group is getting married (my group; Shadowrun; Fantasy Cyberpunk). Anyway, she's planning her Bachelorette party for her gamer friends to occur at Gencon this year (August in Indianapolis). Tickets for the event (Gencon I mean) opened today at noon Eastern.

I have my ticket. Now to plan on which games I want to play Smile

(yea, where's that 'nerd' picture? Bigsmile )

Is Boggle or Scrabble in a category? I'll take Pente for 20,000 Alex.

Is this where they're play testing d&d 5th ed? I am having such a hard time dm'ing 4th for my kids.

Don't know about that. I know they announced it but I seem to recall that there was to be a lot of fan input including much beta testing, similar to how Pathfinder went their own way. So it would seem a bit early for play testing.

I don't keep up much on D&D anymore though.

There are lots and lots of board games as well as role playing. It wouldn't surprise me to find a room with players. There is a spouse of gamer room. Don't know what's in there though. Knitting maybe Smile

I went to one, once, in Milwaukee.  At the time I had friends that worked for FASA so I figured what the hell.

I tried being an RPG table-top gamer, but could never take it seriously.  So, the only one I ever liked was called "Paranoia," an amazingly funny dystopian bloodbath with intrigue, secret societies, and a megalomaniacal computer.  Who knew 8 low-lever worker drones and a machine called the Spinbot (one stands upon it and it spins) on a mission to change a burnt-out light bulb could result in 48 spectacularly violent deaths in 4 hours?

Also, the card game Illuminati was pretty awesome.

But right around then I discovered that chicks dig motorcycles, so... yeah.

Actually, that combo worked out really well for me once at GenCon.  Nothing like having a chick dressed as a Space Valkyrie as yr pillion.

I never spent 3 years of my life drinking Dr. Pepper and playing battletech all weekend with my fellow nerds.  Nope never did that.  Also, I would never recommend it to someone......who had a fear of hexagons.

They have special hotel rates for GenCon attendees. When you get your ticket, you get a special reserved room code. These rooms open up at noon today so I'll be online and ordering mine as soon as possible.
