Any decent indoor shooting ranges slightly west of the Kenosha area? I'm out in Antioch, near the state line. I've been to Shooters out in Racine, but it's 36 miles from me. I'm looking for something closer. Good range ventilation is also a definite plus.

Not that I have found.

I work in Kenosha and live near south side of Milwaukee.  Shooters' is on the way home for me.  Badger Outdoors in Milwaukee has an indoor range that I do not recommend - poor lighting, costs more, ownership changes annually.

Bristol has an outdoor range for pistol and rifle I have used.  But nothing indoor there.

Share your results if you find a good place.

There is a place in Waukesha called Fletcher Arms.  Been years since I was there...so I can't comment on lighting / cleanliness / etc.

I prefer going to McMillars's in Eagle.  Outdoor ranges...but I can spend a whole day there.  They have handgun / plinking ranges, large bore rifle ranges out to 300 yards, a line of trap stations, a sporting clays course, and a walk-through archery course, as well.

Perhaps a "ride-n-shoot" is in order for some weekend this spring.....

That would make for an interesting R4 weekend outing. It would have to be in WI though. Illinois requires a FOID for its residents if they want to do some range shooting on this side of the border.

I'd be up for this to. I have a vintage German Luger that i would like to fire.

Are there anyone here that is qualified to give it a once over and make sure it is safe. I had a friend clean it and he said it was ok but that was a good 5 years ago.

Just checked my FOID card and I'm good.

We were talking about this at coffee on Sunday. Sounds like a great idea. There are some beautiful free ranges way Upnort. I was researching ranges last year and there are some in SW WI.

There is a place in Waukesha called Fletcher Arms.  Been years since I was there...so I can't comment on lighting / cleanliness / etc.

From Fletcher Arm website this morning:

Range Info

The range is open the same hours as the store, and is always first come first serve.

There are no Reservations.

We have a 75-foot indoor pistol range. Our range has 10 shooting points, is well ventilated and our state of the art bullet trap system nearly eliminates lead dust produced when the bullet strikes the trap system.

Caliber Restrictions

All Rimfire calibers are allowed.

Most pistol calibers are allowed: 25 ACP up to 44 Magnum.

The Smith & Wesson 460 & 500 are allowed in bullet weights of 350 grains or less.

Rifles are only allowed in Rimfire and typical Centerfire Pistol ammo. No .223 or up allowed.

Age Restrictions

No one under the age of 12 is allowed on the range.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany children between the ages of 12 and 17.

Persons between 18 and 20 can use the range unaccompanied by a parent, however they cannot rent or buy ammo for a pistol. They can rent and shoot allowed rifles.

We carry a large selection of targets.

We are the only public indoor range in Waukesha and we have been in operation since 1978.

Store Hours

Monday     Closed
Tues - Friday    10am to 9pm
Saturday    10am to 6pm
Sunday    10am to 4pm

I would be up for this. I have a 45 and a 9mm. Looking to buy an AR 15.  What is a Foid card?  Us people in WI who do not have our 2nd ammendment rights trampled on don't know of such a thing

What is a Foid card?

Firearms Owner ID. As long as you are an IL resident, and own firearms, you are required to have one. Residents can't even shoot in IL ranges as guests if you don't have one. No such rules for non-residents.  Crazy
