Thanks ... I have a friend checking the bike out !!!
 Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup

There is a bike for sale in Canmore and I was hoping someone bored enough by winter might be willing to check it out for cosmetics etc ?

Be happy to trade a night of accommodation and beer in Castlegar for the favour !!

 Cool

Oh ... and the KTM ...  Sad  ... is for sale ... http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,69727.msg1613298/topicseen.html#msg1613298

Just saw the bike listed this morning. I will keep your return in mind and thanks very much but I am definitely getting a case of newbikitis, despite much attempt to be cool,  so I may just jump in the RAV and head that way. LOL   Lol  Don't tell mrs. zanetti  Crazy EEK!

Tell her it's a ski trip. Both Sunshine and Lake Louise have had recent snow dumps. We'll be back in Canmore exactly two weeks from today, rested, well tanned and humming old Bob Marley tunes if you still need a scout.

As to the sell one before you buy idea, explaining the economics may be of help, ergo: This is the worst time of the year to sell a bike, but the best time to buy.  Lol

Hey, I understand "new bike-itis"--I love to look at new bikes, and even attend demo rides--but hey, some of us know how to control our urges Wink  Plus, I kinda thought the KTM Adventure was the bestest-greatest bike evvah.  (Of course, if said new bike is a Guzzi*, all is understood...)

The issue I have with this whole scenario, is not buying a new bike  Bigok but not keeping the old one, really would she notice 1 year less in the university fund. I need to side with Sharon on this one, man/woman can not and should not live on 1 bike alone.

See Jim, if you'd just kept the cheap the little KLR, then you could justify spending money on a second bike. I mean after all, the KLR practically earns you money, it's so cheap to operate  Bigsmile

That sounds about right  Lol

One bike who said I would live with one bike.  One major bike not two ... so a smaller DS bike is definitely in my future.  KLR ?  maybe but I was actually thinking a DRZ 400 or a DR 350 ... but who da fluke knows ? !  I am heading out with a fist full of cash on Saturday morning.   Bigok

I do LOVE the KTM. It is an amazing bike and so much fun to ride for its intended purpose. But for longer haul travel on paved roads, it is not optimal nor is it a good bike to explore deactivated FSR's SOLO.  True, I have a SPOT with me at all times, but the KTM size AND the risk of damaging an expensive bike had me venturing less places than I thought I would. This IS where a more disposable DS would come in. I did think of adding just a DR350 to the KTM but the more I examined the issue the more I realized that for a good 80% of my riding, I need a dedicated Sport Tourer like the Triumph  or Norge.  Norge prices have been high so I was leaning towards a Sprint.

I have always wanted a Guzzi, mostly in the form a a LeMans but despite their beauty,  they are hard to find and a bit narrow focused for what I want to do. Also I am intrigued with Guzzi ownership and the ease of maintenance. So ... off I go. Wish me luck. This one looks like a great bike.  We shall see ...

Nope.  I was going to pull the canopy and take my truck, but I think not. Unloading here in the ice and snow would not be fun on my own ( I have no friends  Lol  )  or with a gang.  Plus I am not sure you could properly insulate the bike from all that amazing amount of road crap out there right now and ... I am being patient for once !  The current owner seems like a great sort and will store the bike for a few more weeks then Karina and I can do a weekend to Banff and I can ride home on a new to me.

It better be a trailer or the (IIRC) F150. No way he's riding back across the Rockies in February. Mind you the expected high for Saturday/Sunday is 8c.... and the main streets are mostly clear. Might squeeze in a test ride.  Thumbsup

Nope.  I was going to pull the canopy and take my truck, but I think not. Unloading here in the ice and snow would not be fun on my own ( I have no friends  Lol  )  or with a gang.  Plus I am not sure you could properly insulate the bike from all that amazing amount of road crap out there right now and ...

First off, if ya need help, just ask!  I've transported/loaded/unloaded a few bikes over the years...

Secondly--a few years ago, I had to haul my bike to Vancouver behind my dad's car so I could ride back (long story).  I rented a (very) small covered trailer from UHaul; fit my bike (after removing the mirrors to get it through the door), kept it safe from road debris/prying eyes, easy to tow, and IIRC less than $50 all told.

The Piaggio Pathogen is quite contagious, with multiple vectors of exposure.  Some test subjects have succumbed with nothing more than auditory exposure, while more resistant subjects require full tactile exposure.

The degree to which the subjects react once infected varies as well.  Some do not exhibit full blown purchase symptoms, others are able to resist by constant dosing with less virulent Anglo-European strains (most Asian strains are generally ineffective at building up long term resistance).

But in all cases, exposed subjects show a permanent change to DNA that may express itself at any time in the future.

I have found a particular, but somewhat rare (and no longer produced) American strain has been effective for me...the initial dose has lasted several years to date, and shows little sign of diminishing.  However, direct exposure to the Italian pathogen does still trigger mild symptoms. Wink
