Visit to "the office".  Joao Barbosa takes his wife for the 1st time in a ride around Daytona International Speedway at 185mph in a 2 seater Daytona Prototype.


I believe this is one of the Action Express team Corvette prototypes. Recommend 1080p at full screen.



Even at this camera angle you can tell when they enter the banking, the chicane, braking for turn one, etc. Pretty cool.

Out.   She was squealing louder than the air intake.  

Best part was her reaction compared to how ho-hum Joao was.  I bet he's sleeping on the couch that night.

That video was phenomenal. There were a few times in the video that really made me laugh. At 1:35, she closes her eyes for a prolonged blink and you can just tell she's thinking, "What the smurf did I get myself into?!?"  A few times past the 4:00 mark, she looks like she's on the verge of puking in her helmet. And at 4:52, her eyes roll into the back of her head.

 

My favorite parts were when Joao would reach over and pat her leg like, "Honey...it's OK...all in a day's work!" and she was having none of it!

When I was still racing, my wife would have nothing to do with a ride along, and now that I've shown her this video, she thinks Joao's wife is nuts. I'll ask him what the "fall out" was when I see him next. I'm guessing there's an interesting follow up to this one....

Oh my lordy yes... Inquiring minds want to know.  

My bet is that she thought it would be fun and the reality just was too much. Ordinary people can't comprehend the speed and physics of racing.
