2011 was just about the worst year for me, evar. I lost my job and began divorce proceedings shortly thereafter.

Refer to  http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,66764.0.html  for some background.

The trucking school I referred to dropped me in September because of high blood pressure. Considering what was happening at the time, go figure. They invited me back for the first of this year, accepted and tutored me enough that I now have my CDL and am now an apprentice driver hauling 53' reefer trailers around the country, with a driving trainer of course. Chicago needs Coachella Valley broccoli in January, donchya know?  Smile

I guess that means things are looking up for me.

As for the divorce? Who knows?  Shrug It's on hold right now as we're trying to settle money issues. As I stated, it's a weird situation as animosity has yet to rear its ugly head.

Glad to hear things are looking up. When we talked in October, you mentioned things were pretty rough but you had a great attitude. Hang in there.

Yeah, I thought 1980 was bad (first divorce) with a 3 year old son and I'm 21. Then I thought 1993 was bad (second divorce), most of the 80's sucked for me. Of course 1998 was pretty brutal, DWI conviction. Let's not forget '09, getting laid off from a company I'd worked for for over 10 years, ON NEW YEARS EVE!

Oh wait, then there were the multiple bike wrecks that left me in the OR, sometimes with insurance, sometimes not. Oh well.

I've got two choices. Either wallow in self pity or get off my ass and do something positive for my future.

Anyway, I want to thank all the ST.N members who gave encouragement, advice and even referred job possibilities. It all helped. THX.  Thumbsup

My 2011 was a mixed bag, but all and all, things turned out ok. The best was getting past a bullshit lawsuit involving our property, and many other people's. Cost us 10k. Smile\\

I was gonna reply in the other thread but it derailed so badly it took on the grotesque appearance of a "Shah" thread, and as a rule I stay away from those. No good can come from them.

2k11 started (actually Dec 31 of 10) for me laying in a hospital bed and the doc had just told me I had about a 20% chance of living. A few months before I had contacted a lawyer about a divorce and the best course of action for me to get custody of my then 2 year old son. Work had been very slow and I was looking at the distinct possibility of having to close my business and try to find a job working for someone else.

By the time 2012 rolled around I've pretty much John Wayned the leukemia (though I still have 1.5 years of chemo to go the cancer is in remission) , my small bizz had successfully completed the largest project to date with a tidy profit and business is good. I'm still waiting on the wife to hit me again and bloody a nose or something, so I can have her charged with criminal domestic violence, which will pretty much guarantee that I get custody and her gone. All in all things are on the up.

Just remember, although you may not see it at the time, when one door closes another always opens up. If you feel like life has got you down, go to WalMart. I always feel damn handsome after leaving that place.  Lol

Good luck on a successful '12

Best of luck. IF things go to hell again remember that CDL is like Gold in the oild fields (as long as you can pass a drug test).

Yeah, I hear that too.  Wyoming and the Dakotas are booming and CDL would get you work.   Shrug

Still, I think even Redding (the hottest place in the world) is preferable to the Dakotas.   Bigsmile

Redding. Hot? firedevil

Well, it's where my house is and it looks like selling now would not be good financially. I wouldn't lose any money but wouldn't make any either. I'm basically living in the truck now. It's a minimal existence and yet it suits me. Now if I can only find a way to have a motorcycle, too.
