When I rode across the 520 bridge last week, I stuck the 'GoodToGo' pass from my car under my windscreen. I later checked my account and found that I had been appropriately tolled but there was no record of my license plate.  Does anyone know if they have a way of reading a bike's rear plate?  If that's the case, what's to stop bikes from riding across without tolling? Not that I would do or in any way advocate such a thing.

Why would it take a record of the plate if it can read the tag?

Well that's my question. If you ride across without a pass does it capture the front or rear plate?  The way they're set up it looks like they're focused on the front but I don't know.  I'm just curious really.

Both.  Its not a photo but a video that is then processed for things that look like plates.

I just think it's funny that the Very First Car that went through the toll was clocked doing 76 miles per hour.   Bigsmile

What's interesting is they knew how fast he was going.  Why do they know how fast he was going?

Your Good to Go pass is not attached to your plate only your account, the reason your regester your plate # is if the scanner does not read it takes a picture around 24 per car/motorcycle and it will look up and search for it in the system, when they see it's on your account it takes the toll out of your account + $.25. but for them to id your plate they have 3 people ID your plate # if all 3 do not come up with the same plate # they won't charge you, ie if 1 person comes up with 1 digit off it's a no go for charging. The blue flashing LED lights are the cameras taking pictures. I have the motorcycle transponder's on my bikes, so when I go on the 167 Hot lane they won't charge me. You can also setup an account and regester your plate without buying a transponder and they will read your plate and take the toll out of your account + $0.25, I find myself taking the 520 more than I thought, I rather pay to get across faster than sit in stop and go traffic and take a chance of getting rear ended in traffic. I got rearended in 08 on the Ship Canal bridge getting  to the 520.

The 167 hot lane is free for motorcycles. Why do you have a transponder for those lanes?

Would you buy a car with separate controls for the front and rear brakes?

I was going to get the transponder that I can switch between my car and motorcycle, the motorcycle transponder will not deduct from your account, it knows it's a motorcycle, for the car I got the one I can switch off so when I have 2+ in the car I can turn it off.
