Worker at Kenyan orphanage attacked by machete wielding thieves while protecting children from them (they will steal kids, hack them up, and witch doctors use the parts in ceremonies
). U of M student founders of the orphanage request $2000 in donations on reddit.com for security fence and get $70,000 so far. Good on you people!

there are plenty of countries on the continent doing quite well too, mostly former British colonies while the former French and Belgian colonies are embroiled in war and unrest.

Back on topic: good on the U of M people. A friend of mine spent time in Africa with Doctors Without Borders. Her viewpoint is that not all of Africa is totally barbaric. Gotta admit, though, some areas make one think time stopped several centuries ago.
