Freeze some for Clay's BBQ, will you?

Chili and BBQ is on the menu for the Superbowl.

Alright, lemme try this.  Here's the general gist:

1 pound(s) dry white beans, soaked in water for 24 hours
     7 cup(s) reduced-sodium chicken broth, divided into 5&1/4 and 1&3/4 cups.
   2 clove(s) (medium) garlic clove(s), minced
     1 large uncooked onion(s), chopped
   1 Tbsp white pepper
   2 tsp sea salt
   1 Tbsp ground oregano
   1 Tbsp ground cumin
   1/2 tsp ground cloves
7 oz Las Palmas Diced green chiles, doesn't have to be this brand
2 Tbsp canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, or to taste
5 cup(s) (chopped) cooked skinless, boneless chicken breast(s)
   12 small corn tortilla(s)
Instructions

Drain the beans. combine them with 5&1/4 cups of broth, garlic, onion and spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer, covered for at least 5 hours, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender. Stir in chiles, peppers, chicken and remaining 1&3/4 cups of broth. Simmer, covered for one hour. Serve chili over corn tortillas in a bowl with avocado slices and sour cream.

That looks really good fourstring. I assume you don't add the beans till it's near done if it takes two days? Otherwise I'd think they'd be mush. Would love to see the recipe for that, if you'd be kind enough to share.  Thumbsup

2 AM Chili

This stuff is effin' GOOD. Add some 'Stairway to Hell' (or your favorite hot sauce) for some heat.

Yeah I know... canned green beans and corn in the chili... if you are a purist, make your own then.

Look 2 posts up from yours.  It  takes 2 days because you soak the beans for 24 hrs before you start to cook them.  Then they get cooked for another 6 hours, which does make them slightly mushy.  Canned beans are way too salty.

Speaking of which, I should go put them in a pot now. Thumbsup

Sad    Also consider applesauce, instant mashed potatoes, and ice cream.

We'll be having Cincinnati chili (made with venison). Cablebandit will likely have it "three way," whereas I'll go "four way bean."

One last "hurrah" for junk food.

Lil smokies simmering in a crockpot with some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce...

Jalapeno poppers with a sweet/spicy thai pepper chutney...

Buffalo wings, perhaps.

Some jumbo pretzels with mustard and/or cheese sauce.

A bottle or two of "Spotted Cow" or some other fine Wisconsin brew.

My first weekend home since Thanksgiving...will spend most of tomorrow with my daughter...so the game will be secondary to the company.

Go PATS!
