A Squid in Hawaii asked anyone that makes videos, post something they do that is epic. Regardless, I can't wheelie, I can't do anything crazy on my bike, but the places I've been.....are epic themselves. If you enjoyed this, please share it. I was kicked out of my house when I first got my motorcycle, 3 years later, it was on of the best decisions I've made in my life and I wouldn't change a thing.

Great video!!
Also I think that you conveyed the thoughts of many of us as to the very reason that we ride. In that sense, every time we swing a leg over the saddle, we are on an epic journey.
I have over the years attempted to express to others why I ride.  I usually get blank stares, and simple head nods, knowing that they "just don't get it".

Thanks for the video!!

iMovie, all the footage was untouched and no color correction was needed.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I can't really explain to anyone about my yearn to ride. Its dangerous...yes, we all know that. I made this video in hopes to have other riders connect and see if this explains a tad bit about our passion to ride. Smile

Also, just wondering, would you rather have me write a long essay about my trip? I decided to capture it on video and share with you guys. Its not spam, its not frigg'n' girls in bikini's advertising penis enlargement pills.....its motorcycle touring videos, that I MADE. I would expect complaints if I posted a video of being a squid or videos of other people's rides. BTW: I see you ride a VFR.....awesome bike Smile

It took me a while to finally chime in on this thread , all I can say is that the vid brought tears to my eyes , I used to ride a bit before I joined the army and so did my dad . Due to owing back child support he had to sell his beloved Harley when i was 14 or so so we never got to ride to gether , I kept my bike fora year , got married and let it go back in 1984 ...now to slip forward to May 2010 , when i was on vacation back in Ohio to visit my dad . By then his congentical hip defect had gotten so bad he hadn't been able to walk normal in years much less than ride a bike , as we sat on the bench by his koi pond he told me alot about his riding dad's and the frindships between him and his fellow MC club members and how much he missed being able to get on the road over the years . He knew I was just thinking about getting back on a bike and was looking at which bike I wanted to buy . He told me that day don't hesistate or I'll be regretting it for the rest of my days. I sort of held that convo dear for a while but it really didn't com home until I got a call from my stepmom the following September telling me he had had a stroke and was in critical condition . He died 3 days later , while my brothers and I sat in the garage talking about our childhood memories of dad I remembered his biking day (his old club members mised him and would always invite him to their meets and rallys but he would never go ) . So the past 3 years I've been going through tough personal times and was feeling lost , sometimes to cheer myself up I would go by several cycle dealerships and fondle a handle bar or 2 , so I finally took a MSF class ( irony of this was I took and past the class wearing old hand me down clothes of my dad's that he had given me ) this past Sept and started to save up for a bike , personal trouble got worse and finally a friend on another forum told me this .."Look you are drowning and you needsomething to revive your soul ..do it , got get it no matter the cost otherwise I can see you just dying completely inside' angain I just kind of pushed the convo to the back of my mind until one day I was at what now is my favorite use bike shop and I happened to spot this purple bike out of the corner of my eye ...I walked over and realized it wasn't list for sale ( A prospective buyer had just backed out of the deal and the store hadn't time to relist it for sale yet) I took it out for a demo ride the next day .and then again the next week .by then I knew this was the bike for me . Tok 2 weeks of fighting to get financing and even now the wife resents the bike greatly but for me it will remain even if she calls it quits . I like to thank you for producing the video , I get tears in my eyes remembering what my dad told me about his riding days , especially the words at the end . I plan soon to make an 'epic' journey to the places he told me of back east ....Love you and miss you dad ...sorry gotta end here getting all choked up again .

Sounds a little like my first bike.  I told the wife I had found a used bike and was going to go look at it.  I asked if it would be okay with her if I got a loan and bought it if it was in decent shape.  She said that would be fine, we could handle the finances.  Long story short, I came home with the bike that evening.  And she was furious.  I reminded her she had agreed we could handle the loan, and she said, "Well, yeah, I said that.  But I didn't think you'd be stupid enough to buy it."

That bike was a bone of contention for a while, but we got over it.  That was 42 years ago, and we're still happily married.  She supports my hobby, and in fact encouraged my last purchase, a '91 CBR1000F (used) when I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money.

Moral of the story: it needn't be the end of the road for you two, hang in there.

Good luck to the both of you.
