There is more on this story in the book 'Ring of Fire' by Rick Broadbent.   I almost want to say that Mr. Adams may have borrowed from that book for this article but that would be plagiarism and Im fairly certain he's got more journalistic integrity than that.  It's been awhile since I've read the book.
