I just got a 05 xb12 firebolt. It came w/ dunlops 208's. In a about a month Im riding down to ga for a rally. I'll probably rack up alot of miles. Anybody remember how many miles they got from there oem dunlop 208's. I'll probably have about 1200 miles at the start of the rally on the tires, We will probably log about 2500 miles total. Think the rear can handle 3700 miles total.????

Nope.

You'll be lucky to get 3k miles on your rear D208.

I have a new 06 XB12R and ride it kinda hard.  So far I have 4900 miles on the rear OEM tire but I won't get many more out of it.

Thanks guys, I have ran alot of different tires through the years,,,,,just not the dunlop 208's. I tend to run through most sport touring tires in about 4500 miles. Examples: bt 020's, michelin pilot roads, dunlops 205's and 220's. The sport tires last me about 3000 miles, examples: metzelers m1's, pirelli diablo's bt 010's. Thanks for the input. I'll make a judgement call just before the rally.

If you get 3,000 miles on Diablo's, don't think about more than that on the 208's.  I do about the same as you on the Diablo T's on my Lightning.  I averaged 2,000 miles on two rear 208's.  I was very happy to get them off my bike.

It's not a Buell, but I had a 208 on my Honda Superhawk. They were toast in 3000 miles or less. Very disappointed - didn't like them at all.

Diablos on the Falco lasted much longer than 208's.

I have a D207 on my bike right now.  I've only owned the bike since last fall, and the tire looked nearly brand new then.  Its toast already and I've barely put 2,600 miles on it.

I'm going with the new BT021...

I get a little more mileage out of D208s (not OEM, though) than out of Metz M1s.  Maybe 10%.
