Would a standard one for a 7/8 bar work like this http://www.newenoughhp.com/parts/cruise_control/sound_off_recreational/vista_cruise_universal_motorcycle_cruise_control.html    ?????

Sorry to be harsh, but is wrong with you? Headscratch

You simply do NOT install a cruise control or throttle lock on a sportbike like the Firebolt.  To do so would be very poor form indeed.  Just thinking about it makes me want to Hurl

I'm with TheRoamr.  Would love a throttle lock on my 12R, just can't seem to find the right one yet.  A bit of relief of my right limb would be key once in a while.

In May Im riding to T.W.O. in Suches Ga, I live in Mentor Oh, just east of Cleveland Oh. That happens to be a 13-14 hr ride non- stop. I've done this before and its probably the only time the cruise control would be used. If you cant see my point now you must have an extremely abnormally strong right wrist Lol

I've got one on my Ulysses and it works well.  Don't remember exactly which model I got.  Had to move the brake assembly bracket away from the throttly by a half inch or so to fit in their clamp.

Well, you're a tougher man than I--14 hours nonstop?  Not my idea of fun!

I assume you realize my post above was tongue-in-cheek...

Ha - I live in Stow.  We should ride!

I had a cheap-0 on my superhawk (that has clip-ons) that was a pleasure to ride with.  Very similar to this:

The first one is the unit I was going to try.  I have an unused threaded hole on my controls that would normally be used for the bar-mounted mirror on other buells- but I have fairing mouted ones, so its just covered with a plastic cap.  I was going to attach the retention arm to that rather than use the second collar supplied with the throttle lock.

I haven't actually gotten around to it yet though.

I used the Vista Cruise for Yamaha on my Ulysses and it fit quite well with a little minor modification.  It was a lot cleaner looking than using the universal vista cruise.

All I had to do was grind off the end of the tang that is supposed to fit between the two throttle cables and drill a small hole for a tiny screw that I used to slightly pierce the throttle cable housing to keep the Vista Cruise from rotating.  I'd bet that the same could be done with the clip-ons on your firebolt.

I fitted a Throttlemeister bar end friction lock cruise control to my Firebolt and I find no sacrilege in that.  If it hurts its doing harm, and I intend to keep riding as long as possible.  On a 600km run my wrist is the only thing that aches (OK the bum knows it’s alive).  Why risk osteoarthritis by being brave in youth?  I enjoy the ride more with the cruise control, so why avoid it?

The Throttlemeister sits discretely at the end of the bars, ready for use if I so desire.  It's a bar weight as well so it probably cuts vibes to boot.
