I like the way you think.

(staying the night in Belvedere, right next to Mill Valley, so I get to sleep in)

Ok. I've changed my mind... I think I'll swing by the dinner dinner to meet you guys and have an adult beverage or two then split maybe (w/Ksann) get a room out near Mill Valley so I can sleep in a bit too. After reading all the threads I can't miss this gig and the opportunity to get together before Fortuna! What is the best way to Dublin from Carmel/Monterey? I riding Hwy 1 up and I'll be in Monterey around 12 or 1.

Hm, depending on how adventurous...7 hours is a long time from Monterey to Dublin.

You can catch 152, then up 101 a bit, catch Mines Road through Mt. Hamilton then cut back from Livermore. Or you can go up more of 1, catch 9 all the way, or 9 to 35 then cross the San Mateo Bridge. I don't think you can completely skip the slab though.

OK, just bumped the reservation to 20 people. Post or PM if you can't make it at least a day ahead, please.

No problem, I can lead the way to Saucilito/Mill valley from dinner.

Just don't get caught north of the San Mateo Bridge (92) on the Peninsula, and stay away from SF. Otherwise you'll have to deal with the melted freeway overpass, and you don't want that. Smile

With 7 hrs to spend, I'd go to Santa Cruz, 9 to 35, genuflect at Alice's, then go down 84, cross the south bay, go up and over Hamilton (stop at the observatory?) and then just fart around in the east bay. Mines Road for sure, maybe Tesla/Coral Hollow, maybe Patterson Pass, maybe even Mt. Diablo / Marsh Creek / Morgan Territory. All kinds of options.

That sounds fun, but I'd make a small change.  Instead of going down 84 from Alice's, continue North on 35 to Kings Mountain, and take that down to 84.

And I would always reccommend Mt Hamilton.  It's a great view of the Bayarea, and cool seeing airplanes flying below you.  The Western side always seems sandy.  As soon as you start down the Eastern side, the roads are clean.  And gas up before you go up, there's no gas between San Jose and Livermore, about 65 miles.

Thanks for making room for me. I'm really looking forward to this. Thanks also for the different route ideas. You're right, that is plenty of time. I'll probably stop quite a bit to check stuff out.

Alice's isn't a bar, just a cool breakfast/lunch joint. Drinking and riding = bad, but that's another thread...

Alice's itself is really nothing spectacular. It's really just shorthand for the whole motorcycle hangout scene that happens at that intersection. There's also 2 gas stations and a market/deli at the same spot.

Alot of Bike rides end up at watering holes of sorts. I generally trust people to make their own decisions... "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"

. I always stop when there's something cool or diferent to see or do. Point a to point b is not always a straight line. Thanks

I'm guessing BSD just hasn't had time to upload his pics yet.  Here's two of mine:

All our bikes lined up with FJL in the background

I never really take all that many pictures at the dinners 'cause I'm too busy eating. Lol

Wow, thanks for having the SoCal bunch to your dinner.

Good food, great company.

A few of us were quite late getting to dinner, but it was well worth it.

Does this mean that I have to come back for another?
