2007 sprint st - problem

I have read about the recent changes to the 2007 sprint.  I am considering purchasing one.  But before i do i would very much like to know if any of you out there know about the heat problem with the earlier models and if that has  been fixed on the 2007.  From magazine articles that I have read on the 2005 and 2006 people have complaints about excessive heat on the rider's legs.  Has this issue been addressed with the 2007?  gf45@pixius.net

If you read through other threads, you'll find that many "problems" are a matter of perception.  In other words, you'll have to decide for yourself.  The first generation FJR has been named a "cooker", but many owners don't even fit the retro insulation kit because they aren't concerned about something they can't measure themselves.  Honda STs had a problem for some owners, but others had little trouble with the heat.  The Triumph was also given a kit in the first two years to insulate the rider somewhat from the heat, but the '07 is supposedly redesigned to direct airflow differently, yada, yada.

Any big mill of any configuration is going to radiate heat.  Some bikes will run warmer than others.  There are no guarantees, especially with a fully-faired machine.

Ride at 60 or above and you'll have no problem.

The short answer is that they fixed it.

All 2007 models come with the "heat kit" installed.  The kit is available as a free (warranty) retrofit on all 2005 and 2006 models.

Does it make a huge difference?  I didn't get mine installed until last September, so it was already cool enough to not be an issue then.  But the heat before I got the kit installed (I rode the bike for 7 months without it) was a non-issue for me.

All I can say is I'm a big fat bastard and the heat never bothered me.  Like all bikes, it's pretty warm when you're stuck in traffic on a hot day.  When you're moving, it's just fine.

Most riders that wear gear will not feel the effects or they can feel it but an issue. Like Red said, if you are stuck in traffic on a scorcher of a day then things get warm.

Get the TOR exhaust and get rid of the catalytic converter and any heat issues will be minimized.

07 models no longer have the catalytic as part of the muffler.  It's been moved forward, under the engine, where it won't heat your seat.
