Anybody going? I'm going to skip out of work half day on the 4th and go demo a Speed Triple and maybe a Thruxton.  If I have time I might add the 675 to the list.  Thumbsup

I'm going to try to head out there Friday as well.  I'd like to get a ride on the new Tiger, the Sprint ST, and perhaps the T100.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I prefer the go-your-own-way as well, but that's pretty rare to find.  Martin is the only place I've been to that allows that.

I'm heading over to Desimone BMW tomorrow for their open house, they've got group demo rides.  I've never ridden a BMW, hoping for a R1200R, K1200? and an F800ST.

They are dealer-led pack test rides, not hand-me-the-keys and cya kind of test rides.  I prefer the latter, but if I have time I may stop by...  I'd recommend getting there early to sign up for the bikes you want.

Yeah, I know but John won't let anybody demo a Speed Triple (at least last I knew he wouldn't); so this will be the only chance I get to demo one. Plus, if he's so gaurded w/ the Speed Triple I doubt he lets anybody demo the 675.  I might have to try and demo both.

Anyone know of a way to find out where/when else the demo truck is going to be?  I checked all the local dealer's websites and no one mentions it.  I don't necessarily mind going 2.5 hours to Harrisburg, but closer would be better.

Looks like you just missed the stop in Jersey which was last weekend.  http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/1503.aspx

You could try calling Hermy's and see what's in their demo fleet.  The new Martin's store in Pottstown would be worth a call, too.

I missed it because I was at Clearfield for the Meet and Eat.  Thanks for the link, doesn't look like the demo truck is going to be anywhere near here again this year.  I would have thought they'd go almost from dealer to dealer across the USA.  Oh well, now I'm more determined to get up to Highspire.

Hey, if you guys are interested in the 'Modern Classic' bikes, my old Tbird is at CAT and I'm sure it could be had for a steal.

885cc triple with uncorked exhaust, only 18,500miles, Hagon rear shock, butt-buffer gel seat pads, center stand, Napoleon bar-end mirrors and lower handlebar, fresh rear tire and it just had the valves checked.

Just sayin'!  I'd love to know the guy who got my last bike.   Wink Bigok

I thought that was your bike when I was there yesterday!  I might not be going to the demo event now. After talking to Bill it seems John has eased his restrictions and they have both a S3 and D675 demo bike.

Glad to hear they're allowing demo's on the S3/D675 now.  Which one are you gonna buy?   :pokestick:

Well, I was almost sure my next bike would be an Aprilia but there was a guy who had a blue S3. It had the lip and arrow exhaust on it.  Drool

Just got back from Highspire.  Quick thoughts:

I called yesterday to see how the demos were going to work, and was told they'd start around 12, and have pretty much every model of Triumph.

I rolled up to CAT at 11:55 or so (after having gotten detoured at a Yamaha/KTM dealer I noticed from 283), and there was a group of about 5 folks already leaving on a demo ride.  I knew it was a demo since the leader had a bright-orange safety vest  Bigsmile.

Signed up for the Tiger at 12:30, and wandered around a bit.  Kind of a small dealership, Triumph only.  They had a small table inside where a guy was grilling hot dogs on a George Foreman.  OK....

Got the quick safety talk (no wheelies, no hanging back and then speeding up, etc), and saddled up the Tiger.  They took us on a nice 10 mile route that included some highway (283), some backroads, some nice turns, pretty much a little bit of everything.  I wish it was longer, but it was very varied which was nice.

Took around 20 minutes, so we were back at 12:50 or so.  I signed up for a Bonnie T100 at 1:30 as more and more folks showed up.  After the T100 ride there were no more openings for almost 2 hours so I headed out.

All in all, a good show from the Triumph folks.  The dealership didn't put out much of a spread though.

Much different than the demo day I did at DeSimone BMW last week.  They had a huge BBQ going on, tubs and tubs of drinks, give-aways, tech seminars, etc.  But only 2 rides over the course of 4 hours, though the rides were almost an hour long.

I'm gonna post my thoughts on the T100 and Tiger later tonight.

Yeah, it's just a little dealership run by a handful of guys.  Glad you got two rides in.

Stopped at the new B&B Yam/KTM by Lancaster, eh?  Nice new building for them.

Gi-freakin-gantic building!  I was hoping to see a SuperDuke, but no luck.  2 950SMs though.

I drive past there everyday to work. I always say I'm going to stop in one day after work but I never do.

No, they sell United Motors (UM) too! And it's funny because when I dropped my bike off I asked how UMs are selling. They said that they're actually surprised how well the UMs are selling.  They said currently they UM250 is outselling the UM650 3-to-1 but expect that the 250 sales will level off and the 650 sales will catch up.

I don't know. I kind of find it refreshing that people are opting for 250s.
