As most of you know, I'm a firefighter. We only work 10 24 hour shifts a month. I also work with another firefighter on my off days installing vinyl siding on new and remodeled houses. For the last 6 years business has been great, but when the housing market busted, my part time work came to a stand still. I have a lot of down time now which is bitter sweet. I have more time to spend with my kids, do honey do lists, etc., but not a lot of extra play money. Well this morning I decided to take a little "me" time. I arranged for my mom to pick the kids up from school so I could be free from any commitments. After I dropped Bailey and Drake off at their respective schools, I hurried home to change and hit the road. I decided to try and find a spot my dad showed me several years ago on the way to a job in Cochran GA. Just outside of Jeffersonville GA is the geographic center of Georgia.

The sky was clear, and the air was crisp. I love the fall

The leaves are starting to change a bit down here

You can't tell from this picture, but this is one of the curviest roads around here

There's something appealing about these old service stations. Makes me wonder what it was like when gas was $.25 a gallon

As I headed in Twiggs Co., I started gaining a little elevation. From this spot you can see the skyline of Macon

This tree was one of the brightest

I took this little secondary road in hopes it wouldn't turn to dirt since I no longer have a dual sport, but like most roads in this county it eventually turned to red clay.

I back tracked and continued on the main hwy into Jeffersonville. After asking directions, I found Bullard Rd. According to my pop, the historical marker and the National Geographic Survey marker are off the side of this road. somewhere.

All I found was this pasture, this sign, and these guys hanging around waiting for something to get hit by a car. Kind of reminds me of the cartoon Dumbo.

Time was catching me, so I gave up the search for another day. I hopped on I-16 and headed for Macon to meet Traci for some lunch. Logan's Roadhouse has some really good Cajun Shrimp. Sorry but the camera died before I could get a picture of the grub. It was a wonderful way to kill a few hours before the kids got home, and I discovered some great new places to ride. Until next time, ride safe!
