I suppose that many on this Iron Butt forum are aware of Ardys Kellerman's accomplishment from April 2006 thru April 2007.  She rode a total of over 104,000 miles and is only in her mid 70s!

Yeah, that's pretty great. Myself? If I had enough time and money to ride 104,000 miles in a year I'd spend some of that time doing something other than sitting on my butt getting from point A to point B. But hey, if it makes her happy? Then that's all the matters.  Thumbsup Thumbsup

Well ... she did get ride 80,131 in the first 6 months, then used the last 6 months to pick up those remaining 23,869 miles. So, in a sense, she did take some time to do other things than just sit and twist the throttle. Smile

I dunno about that, 285 miles is a pretty short day.

Not if you rode it *every* day for a whole year, never missing one despite weather.

Obviously she did it many big pieces, but wow!

Not to mention there was a wreck that limited her to the 86K miles she did the first 6 months.

At age 74?  At any age 234 miles per day average for an entire year is pretty dog gone awesome in my book.  How many of us can put together 2 weeks averaging that many miles per day?

Not entirely the whole picture here, in the first 6 months she had to average around 445 miles a day and for the second 6 months she was a slacker and averaged only a little less than 130 a day. Still impressive, but what's the point? I mean weren't there any roses to smell along the way?  Headscratch

Far more than I'll ever do, so good on her.  There's just too much "stuff" out there to look at for me to ever set a record.

Whatever the case, I just got the Ardys commerative T-shirt in the mail last week. "I (heart) Ardys" on the front, "I wish I rode like a Texas Grandmother" and her pic on the back. IBA edition.

for you guys figuring her avgs, you'd better take a few days off her ride calender. She had a layup in the hospital in FL after getting her horse shot out from under her. Ardys is freaking awesome.

Just got our shirts earlier this week.

It's not just the mileage that's impressive. Go Ardys!

Those are some pretty awesome shirts.  Got my first glimpse of them last weekend in BG, KY at lunch.  I want one.   Wink  Didn't Sheila W. have a bangup on her Wing too?  I remember something about a car/bike accident in her reporting.

Interesting.  Is this accomplishment documented where we can read some details?  You do know that Ardys changed bikes because the first one was totaled in a crash?

I received mine too.  It's great and a real keeper.

John might be persuaded to do some more if you ask nicely.  The proceeds will go to Ardys.

http://www.womenridersnow.com/PublicFiles/DepartmentViewer.asp?DepartmentID=2 for a short version of her year of riding.  I think most of it was documented on the MTF Forums as it happened, but I can't find the thread.
