I'm hearing rumbles about WCRM 4.5 or whatever it is by now, what does the general public thing of doing it in Monterey on the 14th-16th, just in time for the AMA National?  It's not nearly as big a race as the GP, and there are still campsites at the track, as well as hotel/motel rooms in town.  Whadda ya think?

Um....that could work since the last two .5's have been further north so we should make a concession and do it further south.

September is THE BEST time to visit that area.  The summer fog will rarely be seen.  The temps normally would be in the 70's.  Finally, the tourist crowds of summer have mostly gone home.

I did a ride to the Bay Area last year in early Oct and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Three weeks until the WCRM and we're planning the next one?

Perfect!   Lol Bigok

I'm down with Monterey.  This would be easy for the SoCal contingent who had a tough time getting to Baker City last year, too.  Long haul for the guys from Boise, but maybe that's fair after Baker City.

North of the Bay Area would be good, too.  Healdsburg or thereabouts?  And obviously there was considerable talk of having the meet in Ashland, OR.

Um you mean two weeks...it is the weekend of the 19th after all.

and no Ashland.....that's not even close to the Bay Area.  Healdsburg would work for me.

Monterey would be very good. The AMA races should be cool without the huge crowds and signage blocking so much of the track as it does during the World Championship races.

BUT, every year there is endless discussion about having the Spring WCRM somewhere in the Sierra and every year we argue that the roads will be closed or wet or covered with sand. Fall in the Sierra is really nice, the roads are less crowded and in perfect shape.

You hate Ashland, Chris.  Why are you hatin' on Ashland?  Don't like Shakespeare?   Lol

Really, it's not that bad.  Nice weather, good roads.  Much less traffic than in the Bay Area.

How about Quincy, CA?  Conveniently sited at one end of the fabled Oroville-Quincy highway.   Thumbsup Thumbsup

Here's a very m/c friendly place to stay in the mountains north of Santa Cruz.  Pool, bar, restaurant with a creek running thru it.

I think we need to have three or four polls, each invalidating the last, before someone makes a command decision and we all bitch about it but go anyway.  Bigsmile

I must have said something remarkably rainy to Mr. Sunshine, thus making Ashland a poor choice Lol

Monterey is fine for me.  I grew up there and it's an hour and a half from my house.   Bigok

One big negative about Monterey is that the hotels know very well what weekends to gouge customers, and that anything major going on at Laguna Seca will mean $$$. And it's so spread out -- anything close to the track would not be close to convenient boozing locales.
