Hey, I was trying to be positive. There is a lot of fresh asphalt on NorCal two-lane highways this spring. By the time the meet rolls around, those roads should be freaking awesome.  Thumbsup

OK, I thought that was your intent.  Smile

Yes, one will find a few miles of roadway hell, but that then is followed by miles and miles of bliss.

Currently, the group campground at Almanor campground (USFS) is available for that weekend.
Its on the west side of the lake about 10 miles from Chester , a mile from a bar/restaurant and 1/4 mile to the lake.

Hm, that's an idea, though I think I'm of the motel type, so is there some camping more near town so neither would have to ride to a bar?

As far as I know, there are no campgrounds within walking distance to Chester.
Lake Almanor is a resort community and the largest town is Chester, but that isn't saying too much.
On the west side of Lake Almanor is a USFS and PGE campground plus a couple of small "resorts".
The largest resort area is called the "Pennisula" which is pretty $$$.
On the north side are a couple of private camground/"resorts" , and to the east is HWY 36 and Chester....

The X-man has had a change in attitude (although not a change in latitiude).  Guess what his new bike is.   Bigsmile

Clue:  It's little, gnarly, fierce and kinda rare around here.  Heh, heh.

Last summer I got bit by the dual sport bug. I'd be cruising down beauftiful Idaho roads and I'd see these dirt roads heading up into the mountains. Then in the winter I was watching the Dakar Rally...

So even though I loved it, I sold it and bought a Husqvarna TE 610. It's probably the only MV Augusta I'll ever get to own. Smile

You were right Chris, about the GSX-R power. I mean I'm glad I tried it, and I'd do it again, but when I'm riding that bike I want to go 120 Mph everywhere.

 Lol

On the track I sometimes miss my CBR....but when I go flying by a "faster" bike on my SV that thought goes away.

But ya...the 1000cc power is insane.  I'm hoping to pick up a dual-sport at the end of this summer but it will be focused towards dirt.  If I wasn't racing I'd already have it.   Cool

Yup. Somehow I am coming to this meet. I am trying to save as much vacation as possible for a trip this fall to Australia but I'm coming to Chester.
