The non-live album version's good, too (the album's good... "Rumor and Sigh"). My brother and best friend sang that song for my wife and me at our wedding 10 years ago. (she's a redhead). Thumbsup

"there's nothing in this world,
beats a '52 Vincent and a red-headed girl"

That's a great line.

Thanks.

That made me think your brother and best friend sang you the 1st song on Rumor and Sigh, which deals with something teenage boys are really interested in besides motorcycles! Lol

I thought "What a strange song to sing at a wedding?" Headscratch

As much as I like VBL1952 I must say "Psycho Street" is my favorite.

My favorite RT album is "Mirror Blue"

VBL1952 by RT is the "BEST MOTORCYCLE SONG" ever!   Inlove

The photograph below is of me at a Richard Thompson concert (gawd, that man can play!) and he is ACTUALLY PLAYING Vincent Black Lightning 1952 when the photo was taken (by the beloved and wonderfully named Beck-zuki)!!!    EEK!

I shall treasure this moment forever.

Thanks for posting this. I was driving down the road a couple of weeks ago and heard this song for the first time. I didn't catch the artist's name at the time, but leave it to Google, figured it out soon enough. GREAT song.

Here's another version by one of our Austin bands. I'm sure the RT fans won't like it as well as the original, but I think it's a nice cover:

The Del Mc Coury Band does a fine Bluegrass version on "Del & the Boys".

Love the bluegrass covers too.

For the sake of our patrons perhaps it should be, "beats a '52 Vincent and a blue-headed girl".  Or, "beats a '52 Vincent and a Stromgirl".

Possibly the most overwrought and ridiculous song ever recorded.   Hurl Bash

Not as bad as the worst song ever, which is Terry Jacks's "Seasons in the Sun" but it's a dang-close second.  Sorry.

SORRY! You should be. No accounting for some people's tastes I guess.

I know her hair might not be red, hard to tell, and it isn't a Vincent, but somehow this pic seemed appropriate to the thread. This is how we imagine DD or Bluepoof on vintage Brit Iron.  Wink

I think I could be convinced to follow her off a cliff.  Inlove
