It is raining ashes. By the time I get home I am going to feel like I smoked a pack of cigarettes.

Not at all. It got much worse.

At 2AM I got a call from the Sherriff’s Office… Get out of your home now! Mandatory evacuation! A fast moving wildfire in our area! We got our colicky baby up and ready, threw all of her stuff together, started gathering all of our stuff and loading up the vehicle. Nothing was on the radio or TV and there was no mention of it on the emergency management webpage. They also didn’t give any contact number in the phone message. They did say there were shelters available but didn’t give any location. Then we got a hold of my father in law who helps out with the emergency management. The fire was not even near us. They supposidly did the same thing to about 800 other people.
