What to use..

The OE coolant is this weird blue stuff.

I had a get off on my new speedy, new bike, rain, wet, etc.. (don't be rubbing no salt in that wound), but it's all back together except for the radiator I've been waiting weeks for, and now that should be in house on Monday.

SOOO..

What to fill it with??

I did a flush and re-fill on my '01 ST and used the orange stuff, Dexcool is it?  Anyway, I think any of the major brands that are suitable for use with aluminum should work fine.  YMMV  Cool

Stock coolant is the blue stuff.

From what i can find out it's Propelyne Glycol and not ethelyne glycol, so as long as I get the propeleyne stuff I'm good.

I also read it's VERY bad to mix the two.

Ok so I called 3 different dealers and they all had no idea if there was a specail Triumph cooalnt, nor did their parts guys stock it.

I bought some propelyne glycol based stuff and I'm gonna fill it up.

Blue Engine Ice

Which is just fancy blue propeleyne glycol, with a surfactant added, (ie water wetter).. and costs $20 a gallon, which is 1/2 gallon of "coolant" and 1/2 gallon of water.

Regular PG antifreeze is $6.99/gal, I have a bottle of Water Wetter around, and $0.99 for a gallon of distilled water.

Having enough money left over to fill the tank up, PRICELESS :-)

Some people (customers) take offense to not having blue coolant  Sad
Personally I could care less as long as it doesn't freeze, boil over, or corrode my bike engine and lubricates my water pump.

I don't really care either, but it did make me mad that Triumph recommends Mobil something or other, and not only does my dealer not stock it, I can't find it anywhere.  I think I bought Coolanol, on the dealers advice, and have had no problems.

Us Triumph dealers are not in luck when it comes to finding blue mobile coolant not only is it not stocked, its not available here in the us to my knowledge. My dealer has tried in vein to get the stuff.

I guess it is blue so you don't confuse it with Motorex oil, which is Prestone green.

I changed out my coolant for water (track day).  If I remember correctly (and I'm pretty sure), the coolant was green.   Headscratch
