What kind of life (how many miles) are Uly riders seeing on Scorpion Syncs?

Would it be correct to assume that for street riding they handle as well as any other sport touring rubber?

Do they actually use more rubber or any reinforcements or belts to improve puncture resistance?

I have the Pirelli's on the City X and love them.
First, they don't get "Hot", even to the touch, but they stick.  I am pushing the hell out of 'em in the corners and they have great feedback.  I totally trust them.
I doubt they are more puncture resistant than any other tire but they are a harder compound and should last longer than the average "Sport touring" tire.  I'm becomming a big fan of Pirelli; their tires last and feel great, IMO.

I had the standard Dunlop 208s on my XB12SS and they were mediocre at best.  Then I went to Dunlop Qualifers and while they stick like glue, they are at the wear indicators at 3K miles.  Not good.

After scouring Bad Web, ST-N, and BMW-K's comprehensive review, I have bought a set of Metzeler Z6s and will mount those next week.  If I can get 5-6K out of those with good grip for the street, then I have found my preferred tire!

I had my stock syncs on my city-x for 6850 miles.  Just put on Conti Road Attacks about 1800 miles ago and I must say that I really love these tires.  Softer over bumps with higher psi and just more confidence inspiring in corners.  Love em.

Thank you for all the input.  Good info on mileage -- at least what I expected.

I guess I should add to my question -- would you take the Scorpion Syncs on a gravel road?

Again, no personal experience but I read pretty much every write up I could find on the Uly and most said they were adequate until things got nasty.  I would say yes.
They look like they will ROCK in the rain though.

Wow! How?
I consider myself pretty easy on tires (i.e. I'm slow!!) and my stock Dunlops on the Ulysses was almost to the cords on the rear at 4800 miles.  Most of that mileage was commuting or slabbing it to/from the fun places to ride.  If I lived in North GA, I probably would have worn them out in less than half that time.

When I had my Sync's I rode on some dirt and gravel.  They handled ok.  I would not want to take the Road attacks on any extend dirt roads.

My main criteria for tire selection on the Ulysses is dry weather grip.  Don't mind replacing the front every time I do the rear some I'm trying a Pilot Power 2CT front and a Pilot Road rear.  The handling is great but can't speak for mileage yet.

I bought my XB9S in the fall of 05 with a set of Dunlop Sportmax Touring P205's on it. The life I got out of them was pretty good. The rear was brand new and i just changed it this spring with about 20000 km on it. The front was ok when i bought the bike and i don't know how many km were already on it But I put about 6000 km on it. I wasn't real impressed with the rear 205, it lasted great but it would brake lose under moderate braking and that is scary as hell. I bought a Metzler Road Tec Z6 at the spring bike show in Toronto and so far I like it plenty, at least it stays hooked up when you want it, I'll have to see what kind of life I get with it. I just talked with a fellow who had just returned from the Grand Canyon on an 06 City X with Scorpions on it and he loved the tires but I'm not sure how much life he got out of them, they were done after this trip.

I've heard numerous times that the Dunlops didn't wear all that great.

I'm pretty easy on my bike too as this is my first motorcycle.  It's my commuter vehicle so it gets used on an almost daily basis barring very bad weather.

Haven't done too much riding in twisties so maybe that's the reason they've lasted so long. Headscratch

I've heard numerous times that the Dunlops didn't wear all that great.

They're no worse for tread life than any other sport-touring rubber, IMHO. I usually wore out Z6's and Pilot Roads in about the same amount of time on my other bikes.  I think the only way to get anything that lasts is to go with touring tires like 880's (no thanks!).

But, that being said, I look forward to toasting this new rear as quickly as possible and getting the Scorpion Syncs for better handling.

The Syncs do OK on gravel and dirt, not so good in loose sand...oh and they do well on pavement.  Thumbsup
