With Erik's bike over for a little visit, the Smooth garage is full of two wheeled goodness!





Although we don't get to go to California for the WCRM, we can take some small comfort in fixing the Falco's pesky little coolant leak.


Fortuna has a funny name and the roads probably suck this year and it's raining here anyway.

Mine is sorta like that.  Two motorcyles, one ping pong table, stack of studded winter tires, rolling tool chest, boxes of two kids' college trappings, two bicycles, pressure washer, lawn mower, yard tools, papers to recycle, odds and ends, mostly ends, Christmas lights, various soccer apparel and stuff I have no idea what it might be.

So we fixed Erik's Falco.  The OEM clamps finely crafted from Italian cheese have been replaced with more robust mini-clamps, and the bike no longer leaks coolant.





Then we went to lunch, and as we ate it rained and rained.  Still raining, in fact.

Felt like Le Mans!

I'm not going anywhere....but if I do likely what I'll end up doing is putting the 2006 GSX-R600 forks I have sitting in my garage on my 2006 SV650.  Then putting a 180 rear tire (with the 5.5" rear rim) on.  Then getting motor work done to put down low-mid 90 hp.  Put some race plastics on it and replace the rear shock. Then have a Superbike SV650 to race.

And for the road bike....not sure...the R1200S is attractive but I should really look at a R1200GS or a K1200S/GT instead.

Kind of a hijack, sorry MisterSmooth, but if you saw it, what was the BMW, Alton Brown was touring on in Feasting on Asphalt? I liked that one. I just don't know about the final drives on these BMW machines they seem to go wonky a lot. I was just reading about another one going south. I still like em though.

hmm.  have a photo of robust mini-clamps?  i've replaced every damn coolant hose on my VFR and it still leaks somewhere.  i didn't replace the clamps since they cost $300 from Honda, but i didn't think about other options.

Go to your local hardware store and get some screw drive pipe clamps.  This is what we have to use on our race bikes...and it works well.
