Guess what buddy. Riding on the street is more dangerous than riding on the track. The hump is definitely not going to hurt, and even if it helps just a teeny bit, then it's worth the effort as far as that guy is concerned. As far as it looking "gay on the street"...sounds like you're the poser if anyone is. How old are you? 16?  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gong to install my coffee can muffler on the Geo. Twofinger

I love it how people who accuse someone of being immature or say 16, are always the first one's to flip the bird.  So my views of what is squidish/gay are different from others, I never said knee/elbow pucks were wrong (I see their purpose and are smart).  I don't see how the hump, which is for aerodynamics (tear drop shape creates less turbulance=faster), would help on the street.  If you crash and land on that hump you could cause the reverse of what some might be thinking its good for.  You might see me in leathers on the street, but not with the hump.

Maybe he has one set of leathers uses them for track days and street riding taking the chance that wearing track leathers on the street might offend you.

if crashing with a hump is gonna hurt me more than not having one, i'm screwed.

seriously, if those who race professionally knew they would get hurt more with one, they wouldn't wear it. they crash at 180+ sometimes, run-off or not, it's gonna hurt so why would they make it worse?

you're view of a squid is way off.

Oh gorsh a speed hump!! OMG what's next, armor?!?

I'd wear a suit with a speed hump if I could still wear a backpack with it.

Mocking someone for wearing safety gear that doesn't fit into your fashion sense is infinitely gay-er than that whatever it was you were making fun of.  (besides the fact that you're wrong)

I'm confused (doesn't take much).  My Spidi touring leather suit with small hump is gay?  Is it sexually active and I don't know about it, too?  How does it get phone numbers?  Does it come out of the closet (pun intended) while I'm at work?  Does it get phone numbers of other leather suits or of human partners?  Is it lesbian or man gay?

It's got a small hump.  Does that mean it is bi?  Or just experimenting?  Will it get rid of the hump if it decides it's really hetero?

Who uses gay in this context anyway?  Isn't the proper term, "alternate sexual orientation"?

To me, having a hump on the back of your leather suit while riding public roads is like a Honda Civic have a big Formula One type wing or a coffee can muffler.  Is it going to make that much of a difference on the street??  Nope.  Might look cool on the track, but it looks gay on the street.  Keep the leather, lose the hump.

Naw -- Riders on aerostich suits look like they should be riding snowmobiles.  Anything other than black motoport suits look like bulky pajamas.  I probably look like a f**kin' poser with pucks and a speed hump but I don't look at myself while riding. Lol

Well, the hump is only good for more speed, so it's useless on the street.

What the hell do you think all the fancy plastic bodywork on sportbikes is for?  To slow them down?

I'm going out to the garage right now to remove all the turbulence-reducing, speed-increasing body work on my Sprint.  It has no place on the street.

Sheesh, maybe the hump was there to offset the increased turbulence from the loss of the lower fairing.

I kind of understand your logic, in that the rider probably will not have the opportunity to take advantage of the reduction in drag coefficiant from the hump when street riding, it's the 'squid' stereotype application that might be upsetting some of these folks.

Now if the rider was sitting on the tank in a wheelie during rush hour traffic, with a radio bungee strapped to his bike fairing stay, blasting the 'MY HUMP....MY HUMP MY HUMP MY HUMP..."  song while he pointed to his back..... Ummm yeah, use the squid stereotype.

What he was wearing isn't the problem.  How was he riding?  Was he doing triple the speed limit and getting knees down on all the corners in traffic, or was he just riding?

The former is being a squid (IMO) regardless of skill.  Yes, you can be skilled yet still be a squid. Twofinger

Lol Lol Lol "I woke up this morning, and my humpy suit was gone again...it must have been out cruising the bars."
A fair number of the sportbike crowd wear leathers with aero-humps 'round here. Better to sport overprotective bling than the reverse, no?

Wow, I used to be such a squid  Lol the hump, knee sliders and my NESBA#.

Yea, I knew I looked a little goofy riding like that (this picture was taken on the Cherohala), but the day before I did a track day in Indy and figured since we towed the bike this far, we'd tow it some more and do Deal's Gap as well  Wink  I wasn't going to  bring a whole other outfit to ride the "streets"  Bigok  Headscratch Who cares what people wear as long as they wear motorcycle gear  Bigsmile

BTW... I also use my hump as a purse, no need for a tank bag Lol there is a zipper at the top, and the inside is hollow, surrounded by foam.

I've never seen any street rider with the hump on the back of his suit.  I think wearing the leather suit was smart, but if you can afford a full moto gp suit with the hump, then you should be able to afford one without the hump.  The hump is what I thought made him squidish.
The guy probably races. I would never call anybody in full leathers a squid, unless he was doing something really stupid at the time.
