Fluids and ibuprofen helped a lot.  Every gas or break stop, I forced myself to down a minimum of a pint of water/gatorade and two ibuprofen.  If it was warm, then I upped to a quart of gatorade every two hours.  Only downside is, gotta piss like a race horse if it's not hot and your not sweating it out.

There's a great recovery product called Cytomax Energy drink that we got a free sample of at Freddie Spencer. When I got off the plane in Seattle from Spencers, I could barely walk, my quads where so sore.  I mixed up the entire packet of Cytomax at home, and within a couple of hours the lactic acid build up in my legs was gone and I could walk normally, even down stairs.  I still had some soreness, but I swear by that product now.

Cytomax is good stuff! I use that all the time both during and after running. Probably would be good to take along on the bike.

I managed the entire weekend without needing to pop any pills, which is good since I didn't bring any!  Lol

I was more tired out than anything else, but then I'm not really in good 'riding shape'.

I still hadn't quite gotten rid of the throttle blisters that popped up on the Pre-WCRM Warmup Ride a couple of weeks ago, but the nice thing about throttle blisters appears to be, the more you ride, the more they go away.   I've got a nice line of good throttle callus now.  Bigsmile

Also, I've now switched my Throttle Rocker to the appropriate position, which helps.  DantesDame has been harassing me mercilessly for having it upside down for almost two years on two seperate bikes.  Mad2

My shoulders and thighs are hella sore, though.  Must have been that gravel riding and learning to stand up on the pegs.  Large doses of ibuprofen are taking care of that, though.

Oh yeah, that'll do it to you - especially when you're not used to it and the bike's not quite set up properly. But hey - you did great and I had a lot of fun! Banana  Wanna do it again?  Bigsmile

I second you on the Cytomax. I got pretty bad dehydration hiking in the Grand Canyon once and luckily I had some Cytomax sitting up at my bike when I got back.

As for my aches and pains...my knees are still a little sore, and my right wrist is a little painful, but that's about it.

This is really interesting. I wasn't sore at all when I got back from the first WCRM. Just really tired (and that was due more to the fact that I was traveling with bluesurf and el chingon cabron and the requisite bad behavior rather than the actual riding). Well, my back hurt, but until I had surgery last summer my back hurt whether I was riding or not. Lol

Pleasantly surprised, but I felt physically fine after the trip.  1590 miles total.  My butt wasn't even aching while riding.  Mentally, I was very drowsy during the ride home, and I feel a little washed out (lazy) today.

The bad part is it's going to take me a few days to get my bike cleaned up, since I was forced to ride for a while in the rain.  EEK!   EEK!  EEK!

A Cramp Buster was a new purchase of mine, and I'm sure it helped a great deal.

I'm also glad to hear most everyone enjoyed the trip without mishap.

I think there was only about a thousand turns during this trip not to mention the mental overload not to drive the wife and I off a cliff. She said afterwards she will be on her own bike for the next WCRM Lol

Boy, same here (plus wrists and forearms) - mostly for the same reason but with different terrain - Leggett FOUR times, plus Hiway 20 (and then slabbing it home on the very rough "80" sure didn't help the back any).  I'm more sore today than I was yesterday.

An unexpected pay off was the high speed sweepers on that last pass on the way to Yuba City - it has been recently repaved.   Inlove

I've heard and read this is where the K12S really performs - now I know it!!!  Bigok

I was visited by wrist pain on every ride until I removed this spring on the throttle bodies pulley...

Getting at that spring required a custom puller to remove the pulley... not easy but I was determined...

Now the throttle snaps back courtesy of the 4 individual butter fly return springs...

And finally I machined a aluminum throttle barrel to replace the plastic one that came with Lockhart
Phillips Quick Throttle...

Hmmm, not sure the behavior was requisite; I think you were tired from riding so hard all week.  Razz   I remember that there was a mandatory quiet time in order to ensure that people got a full 8 hours of sleep.  Lol

I've been reading everyone's reports and am deeply envious.  I intended to make this ride, had a hotel room booked, but life complications precluded participating.  It's really good to read the reports and see the pics...glad that everyone had fun, and definitely keep the reports coming in!  Thumbsup

a quick note to the viewers in the audience who aren't familiar with DMSO therapy:  be sure that your skin is freakin' crazy clean and sterile before putting DMSO on it.  Whatever's there is going straight into your bloodstream.

It's a common naturopathic thingie, but the FDA hasn't approved topical DMSO for any theraputic use that I know of.  Commonly used as a linement for horses, for degreasing engine blocks, and as a cryoprotectant when freezing cell samples.  Whether you want that stuff in your body is up to you.

+1 What Req said (more explanation & disclaimers were needed actually). I was turned onto it by a skeptical RN friend who has done a lot of research and now use it occasionally as a secret weapon for back and wrist pain. Obtained from the local feed store.

heh.  At a natural foods and health supplies store a buddy used to work at, they sold little bottles of DMSO with a roll-on applicator.  In big letters written on the label was "DO NOT APPLY TO SKIN, FOR RESEARCH ONLY" or something like that.  Hence the roll-on applicator, I guess.   Lol

It's a really good solvent, and dissolves pretty much anything.  When put on the skin, it makes a lot of things go through the skin and into the bloodstream.  This includes things that you want in your bloodstream, like any drugs that are mixed with the DMSO, and any other crap that happens to be on your skin - oils and little bacteria and whatever.  Hence the importance of cleaning well.

Apparently, hippies in the 60s would fill squirt guns with DMSO/LSD mixtures and squirt people with them.   Lol

More at wikipedia, as always.

I invented a universal solvent once, but couldn't find anything to keep it in...
