Yes. Have been to just about every motorcycle race at Laguna since '79 and was there in '73, or was it '74(?), when they held the first bike race there. I believe Cal Rayborn won the inaugral on a Harley XR.

I've gone the last 2 years, this year 06 I spent my time in the AMA pits on a crew and spent Sunday watching the GP from Laguna Tower and spent some time in the MotoGP pits. Was an absolute blast but think for 07 I'll just watch from home.
Laguna still hasn't gotten the support quite right for the fans so unless you're hooked up with the right passes or know somebody from one of the teams you're better off watching from the comfort of your home or some place that's comfortable. If you're a racing fan then of course you should experience at least one live GP race but after that......watch from home. Just my .02.

Went to the '05 MotoGP at Laguna.
This year though, we decided to get a little crazy and have already ordered tickets for the Mugello round in Italy.
Can't wait!

I'm making it a week trip to see some fine racing and find new twisties on the way.
How fast are tickets moving? I have no clue about Leguna's setup. What are good roads to hit between Denver and the track?

My wife and I will be there. It will be our first live race. We have paddock passes and grandstand seats reserved also. We are both really pumped looking forward to it. The new issue of Roadracing world is reporting that the 800's are FASTER than the 1000's were!!

Which grandstand?
Also at Laguna I wouldn't be looking for them to be faster than the 990's. This is because you don't have the flowing corners that other GP tracks have.

I'm sure my Dad's going to want to go again, but it's a long trip just for a weekend for me and the GPs have been the least enjoyable out of the last 5 years I've been there. I really enjoyed the AMA/WSBK weekends because you could have full Pit access with passes, all the racers walked around the paddock (the MotoGP guys rarely do), deal with traffic and parking, and the crowds were more manageable.
It's a long way to see motorcycles flash by once in a minute or so from a dusty, sunny, 100 degree poor vantage point. I'll definitely check out the GP if and when it hits Indy! I will finally be able to ride out.

Why not go to the AMA round at Miller then?

That was a plan being tossed around, but it's JUST the AMA and a long way off. I'd rather ride to Mid-Ohio and watch it there instead. It would be a more enjoyable trip in general.

Ah...AMA not good enough.
Or is it that Miller is in the middle of no where?
I'm hoping for a track day around that time so I can catch that AMA round.

You're in for a treat. It's a special place. I hope you can ride in; it's way easier that driving a car and I think adds to the specialness of the event. There's an entrance just for bikes.
I went the last two years but this year I'm spending the money to go to France and Italy in April instead.
Oh, and get some dang hotel reservations pronto. Hotels are outrageously priced GP weekend. We stayed at the Best Western in Aptos last year which was far enough away that it was pretty reasonable at roughly $170/night.

++1 What MisterSmooth posted. If you can finagle a bike to ride in it's a must do. If not, I've heard the bus ride in is not bad and hopefully the bus ride out has been sorted. The busses on the end of the day were a nightmare this past year, but I think that was caused by the roads disintegrating under the unheard of record heat and they routed all the coaches over one, overcrowded road that wasn't in the plans. Hopefully, the usual morning fog will be present and keep the day tolerable.

Unfortunately we won't be riding in. We will be flying in and renting a car. Probably flying into Reno on Tuesday or Wednsday and driving around for a few days before the races. We have a Bed and Breakfast reserved in Carmel for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We Will fly out of SF monday.

Those were just the busses from the track to the Fort Ord parking lots. Catch a Monterey County bus from Carmel or Monterey for free, They're new busses with A/C and they run on time and load/unload very quickly.
