Hey, all.
My friend is organizing a group meet based out of the Port Angeles area. The group is/are enthusiasts of the old British Twins (Triumph/Norton). His restoration jobs would make any fan's heart stop. We rode part of the Rose City Motorcycle Club's Grand Tour last Monday. He road a breathtaking '66 Bonneville. Group meets are apparently big on the East Coast, but the left Coast has had no equivalent. Its time they did. 'Lots of fans from North of the Border too, eh? For a first meet, they expect 15-20 willing to overlook Lucas electronics....

The basic preferred direction from Port Angeles is:
west on hwy 101 and on down the coast. The southern most point will be Aberdeen and the junction with hwy 12 east to Elma at hwy 8 and on to McCleary, turning off on to hwy/road 108, (bypassing Olympia) cutting over to 8 again going north and rejoining hwy 101 at Shelton and on up the Hood Canal back to Port Angeles.

The information needed are
Campsites (preferably w/ cabins) in or very near Port Angeles.
Logical stopping points for lunch - places that won't get freaked if 12-20 old guys on old bikes show up for food.
Any points of interest worth noting or stopping at (eg. Hurricane Ridge).

I appreciate any help from the Northern Clan on recommendations.

Sol-duc hotsprings about 40 mins west of Port Angeles. Campground, cabin, hotsprings ... lovely forest trails. Perfect for your friends and those bikes.

hmmmm....
from P.A.
west = wet
east = dry
Sequim = very dry.
All depends on time of year, but on the average you'd be ahead maybe starting from a little east of PA.

I live near there.  What kind of facilities are you looking for?  I could do a little research....
Camping?  Liquor Store? Motels? Bars? Gathering place? Strip clubs? Parts store w/ batteries & fuses?  Bail-bonds?
 Bigsmile

The stretch of 101 you describe is the only part of 101 I haven't ridden. Started at the Mexico border & turned off at Aberdeen.  But alas, the closest machine I have to British is from Deutchland.....

Bubba & LeftCoast, Thank You!!

I know the campgrounds desired are those around PA. Sites worth seeing, good lunch stops (that don't get scared if a bunch of guys on bikes show up). Scenery, nice samples of pavement. The organizer is planning a dry run up there to check it out & have route info confirmed.

Again, Thanks. Pls. keep it coming.

Standard (but good) diner fare: Gwennies in Sequim.

Excellent roads to hit:
- 112 from PA - Neah Bay. 70 miles of fun twisties along the Strait
- 101 along Lake Crescent (west of Lake Crescent it gets straight and boring, unless you're into the "how fast can I go in a straight" sort of thing) Watch for grooved pavement and LEOs!
- Hurricane Ridge
- Coyle/Thorndike Rds - east of Quilcene. Might take some good map-reading to following the various turns.
- 101 between Hoodsport and Quilcene - might be stuck behind traffic and some small towns to meander through

Interesting sights:
- Hoh Rain forest (near Forks)
- Rialto Beach (near Forks)
- Sol Duc Hot Springs (near Lake Crescent)
- Port Townsend (if you want a neat-o little port town with lots of character to parade your bikes through  Thumbsup)

Website of random places I can't personally recommend  Bigsmile  http://www.northwestsecretplaces.com/rv/

I got two.  If you can get the Norton running, you can borrow it. Bigsmile  (assuming you  can find all the parts...)
