What was the first year of Givi bags on the ST3?

I may be wrong about all this, but I was looking at someone's ST3, which was (I think) an '06...and was impressed by the Givi-made hardbags. Did Givi just start making the ST3 bags? Or have they always made them but just improved them?

AFAIK, '06 was the first year that Givi replaced NonFango as the supplier of Ducati's locking sidecases. NonFango side cases often came with a different key for each case, and Givi's seem to come with a matching key. Same specs otherwise afaik.

Nonfango's had matching keys for the bags, the top case had its own key. Givi took the tooling to keep making the same design that Nonfango produced when they (Nonfango) basically went under so thank Nonfango for the design which is a very good one. Givi may key the top boxes and bags the same, not sure.

Yep, '06 was the first year. Still a Nonfango's design but a much improved Givi locking set-up.
I had bags on my '00 ST2 and '05 ST3, IMHO one of the best bags made!

I have a left side and a right side key for my NonFango side cases. Some folks with NonFango side cases, like you, have 1 that fits both. All Givi's come with 1 afaik.

The only reason you should have non matching keys is if the dealer mixed and matched bags (very easy for them to do as many times they were shipped separately and then put on the bikes by the dealer) or, I guess, if as Nonfango wound down they used up inventory at the end. Oh well, I just wish I could get a lock set so I could use the same key on the trunk. I havent looked at the newer bags. How did Givi change the lock setup?

Is that you Phil? (The Phil I know?) If so, check your private messages!
The new Givi-Ducati bags have the same locking/bag mounting mechanism that the Givi E41's have (if that means anything, LOL). It's a good system and a breeze to put on or take off. (I'm pretty sure it's better/easier than the Nonfango bags, but could be wrong.)
