Zx-6 Seat Stuck

Ok - I got this ZX-6 seat as a replacement seat.  

It looks the same as the original, all the same hardware, etc.  However when I put the seat on it got stuck.  I cannot even rotate the key to unlock it, any suggestions.  

Please help!!!!!

Drill a small hole about half an inch diameter in the back of the seat behind where the piping delineates the top from the back. Then reach in with a screwdriver and you can move the arm that releases the seat. You can then cover the hole with with a badge or any kind of decorative pin or patch. I did that on my ZX6E and it worked. I might have been lucky to get it to release quickly. If you have a hard time go to a dealer and look at the way it's latched on one of their bikes.

Had something similiar happen to me when I got my corbins for myFJR. CS told me to sit on it,no kidding, something about the seat needing time to break in something or other. I sat on it then tried the key turning thing and ........................IT WORKED!! I couldn't believe it and after the rubber thingy's they spoke of and my bike met a few more times I have no trouble's anymora on and off w/o me sitting on it now. If that works let me know, this way I feel useful somehow.

Yes Tony T got the seat unstuck.......   I guess he has had a lot of practice with seats.......

Then Kawrider67 and Tony T helped me winterize my bike.

When I received my corbin seat for my Triumph I had the same problem.  I used two thin washers to space the lock pin away from the seat base solving the problem.  You may want to shim yours alos to reduce stress on the lock tap.  Just take a sharp scribe or screw driver and trace around the lock pin mount before you loosen so it goes back in the same place.
