So I have been drooling over a Speed Triple for some time. I thought I was going to end up with one but then I saw and test rode my Duke. Inlove

I test rode them back to back, and since they are both great machines it was a tough decision. In the end I just felt that the Duke had more of that raw motorcycle feel that I wanted.

This bike will be there for the days I want something nimble and fun, and the FJR will be my dedicated long hauler.

2007 Garage queen Duke with only 3000 miles on the clock. Literally like showroom fresh condition. Engine still has the break in smell when warming up.

I think I may have actually figured out how to post pictures.  Now I need to work on getting my knee down.

This is the 690 Enduro I picked up last summer.  It was stock except for the Wings exhaust & remap when I got it.  It's pretty much as farkled as it's gonna' get (billet gas cap is on order, and I have a tail rack that I may use if it helps keep stuff like my tent away from the nuclear reactor-hot exhaust).

Had a funny moment last weekend making a water crossing in the Dawson Forest where the waterproof & airtight Pelican cases dipped below the waterline (most likely from the wake effect) and made the rear get really light.  Hahah!  My waterproof boots worked great until I stopped midstream and had to dismount.    Lol

The worst part was that I had an audience when I hopped off the pegs as the bike stopped moving and started to tip.  The only saving grace here was that the bike didn't stall, and said audience was a KLR rider who crossed from the other direction right before me and stalled midway through.  Bigsmile  He said he'd crossed there countless times without issue and was expecting the water to be a bit shallower.

Anyway, live and learn. Wink

I traded the Super Duke for a 2009 530 EXC with barley 300 miles on it.  The bike came with Perilli Scorpion ATs on it and the dealer handed me a brand new set of stock knobbies too.  Next up, 17" wheels with street rubber.  Bigok

Congrats!  You'll find it to be very addicting brand (I'm on my 3rd in 3 years).

Great bike, I can't wait to see how you like it!

Now, let's pick a weekend to do the Blackwater 400.   Chili

I am making good progress on my paper. We could do most of it next weekend if we leave off the Laurel Highlands stuff and focus on the southern 2/3s (south of route 40?). With any luck, we could return to your house in time to watch the MotoGP race from Laguna Seca. All somewhat weather dependent of course. I have Friday off, so a Fri/Sat version is possible too.

Just saw this.  Very cool!  Wink

Given that you have a 990ADV, an EXC seems like a better fit than a 690E anyway.
