Arizona Rocks!
«

Ok...so someone allowed me into the state (you gotta get tighter border controls) and I have to tell you that your state rocks. I got in yesterday and rode 89 and 89a. Very impressive roads and in great shape! I was happy to hit it on a Thursday because I imagine that it gets crowded on the weekend. I will post pics at some point but gotta hit the road to Utah this morning.
Thanks for letting me visit!

In early May I rode from Austin, TX to the Tuson area to meetup with an old riding buddy. He took me on a tour of southern AZ and "The Trail" (Hwy 191) up to Springerville. I recommend it to anyone. It is a great state with lots of good rides. There was snow on the mountains near Springerville and 32 degrees the morning we left.

I'll try to get my photos up soon, but really there poorer photos of pretty much all the same stuff. That big fancy looking camera of mine is making all the photos look to pink; I'm sure its an operator error

All year around, I've seen temps in the 30's when leaving Flag and hit 100 by the time I get to PHX.

No doubt.
AT1 is totally lying!
Our roads are strewn with rusty nails and broken glass. And they're so straight, they make North Dakota look like an endless loop of Laguna Seca.
The temps top 500 degrees. Celsius. In the middle of winter. In Flagstaff.
There's a $10K bounty on motorcycle riders, and you don't have to bring them all in...just Certain Parts.
If you stop for more than three seconds, you'll find at least 30 deadly scorpions crawling around in your underwear.
If you want gas, you'll have to throw down Road-Warrior style, 'cause in AZ the tank of juice goes only to those mobile enough to scavenge, and brutal enough to pillage.
Our blandest food will have you shitting nuclear waste for a year. And you have to beat it into submission before you eat it.
This place sucks. It's horrible. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SEE HERE. Go back to wherever you came from and be sure to tell your RV'ing friends!!

I took these back in June when I originally created this post. I was at a Starbucks in Flagstaff getting my morning coffee and reflecting over the previous day's ride.

Seriously folks, there are a number of reasons that you will never EVER want to ever ride here in Arizona.
Many were already covered by Black Ice, here is further clarification with less emoticons.
Dust.
Your ride will be coated in 3/8" of perma-dust forever. Your chains will seize up. Your lungs will seize up. Your bearings will seize up. All paint will be sand-blasted from your tanks, fairings, fenders, helmet, etc.
Heat.
further clarification needed... Your balls will permanently weld themselves to your inner thighs and you will walk funny for the remainder of your days. Any powder applied simply becomes flux in said process.
If you are female, its ummm... worse.
Chrome
All bling immediately vaporizes upon crossing the state line, its said in ancient writings that the molecules get angry but thats just some old Navajo vs. Apache curse thing that we deal with from time to time. If you have any surviving chrome on your vehicle you are subject to random imprisonment in Sheriff Joe's Maricopa desert oasis.
The crime: reflecting sunlight towards others is considered assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.
More Heat
Your rubber tires will melt halfway through your ride and you just can't buy any of our special az-rated tires. Those require an Arizona license, the signature of a native Arizonian (harder to find than you might think), and a questionable string of tattoos on your forearms proclaiming your love for at least 12 women, one goat, and some fella named ozzy.
Drinks
There is no beer, liquor, wine, or hootch in Arizona, it all evaporated years ago.
We drink a special blend of prickly pear cactus sqeezings, rattlesnake saliva, and re-climated sweat from RV-driving tourists that "get lost", the fat ones put out the most usable, fragrant, and tasty perspiration... and when they don't have enough moisture left to sweat out, presto! -pounds of yummy jerky
Roads
Those un-naturally smooth, curvy, undulating, well-cambered, lovely black sheets that look like roads... don't be fooled, those are actually mirages that the evil desert uses to lure you in closer until you can't escape.
I can't imagine why anyone would ever want to ride here.
Even places that suck, say.. hey aint least its not Arizona, dude!
There is NOTHING to look at here, central Nevada is more scenic.
Except, we have a really cool meteor crater.
