I took these back in June when I originally created this post. I was at a Starbucks in Flagstaff getting my morning coffee and reflecting over the previous day's ride.

Seriously folks, there are a number of reasons that you will never EVER want to ever ride here in Arizona.
Many were already covered by Black Ice, here is further clarification with less emoticons.

You guys forgot the best garden spot.  I'm speaking of course of Gila Bend, The Fan Belt Capital of America!  Plus don't miss Dateland, Wikieup, or Wilcox.  And both Yuma and Quartzite can be special in the summer.

When I lived there I always rode 88 past Canyon Lake and through Tortilla Flats until the pavement ends then turned around and did it all over.   Something like 132 curves in 11 miles.

Thats known as the TTF ride to locals.
Unfortunately, after the heavy perseid meteor shower this year, the road is completely lost.
Craters everywhere have nearly leveled the area, partially filled in the lake, collapsed the one lane bridges, but I hear the cool restaurant/bar at Tortilla Flats was left untouched
The only way to ride the apache trail now is via donkey.

Say do you suppose we could get you over here to SoCal for a little of that PR work?  We have people coming over here thinking we have good roads, but since the governator took all the highway tax money & gave it to the homeless and subsidized the bus & rail systems, our roads are much worse than yours with absolutely NO HOPE of getting better.

I have to ride my Blackbird over to Tucson or Benson to get on a decent road.....

Just back from a quick trip to Sedona and Jerome. 89A was a great road though congested and that was on a weekday. The construction at Sedona was irritating and sounds like two more years in the making. The views were great through the redrocks.

The Hauted Hamburger in Jerome, it was the best meal of the trip.

Donwside was the weather, 35mph cross and head winds with gust to 55 from ABQ all the way to Flagstaff and on the way home the temps were in the low 50's with crosswinds around 30mph. Light rain/snow from Laguna pueblo all the way home here in ABQ.

It is a trip I will have to do again but not during our windy season.
