My son and I will be leaving Austin later this fall for a jaunt into Mexico and lands to the South. He will be coming from NY and I from Seattle and meeting at my brothers in Austin.  I was thinking of making the crossing at Eagle Pass and avoiding Monteray on my way into the cooler mountains.  My question is just where is the customs and immigration when you cross the border?  Easy to get to?  Signed?  Is there a better crossing?

I have crossed a couple of times in Az and Ca and sometimes finding the offices is no easy task.  Any help and local insight would be appreciated.

Thanks -- chris

From the posts that I have seen on Two Wheeled Texans it seems that Eagle Pass is the best point to cross from here.

thanks for the reply.  Looks like an interesting site.  As I wander through.  Still wondering about the physical location of immigration and customs.  Right at the border?  When getting outside of the area?  On google earth I did see a giant building I presume is the immigration/customs area.

Just trying to avoid the cluster **** I had going through Tijuana.

Most immigration and customs are right at the border. You will get a green light to Pass or a red light to pull over. They will search your vehicle and 9 out of 10 times you go. (I cross at least twice a year at Del Rio / Ciudad Acuna.) It does cost like 2.00 one way and 2.50 the other.
