OK, I've been told by some STN members that I need to post here so they can live vicariously through us on our 3 week 10th wedding anniversary trip. So here we go!!

It's Friday, May 15th, we're leaving tomorrow morning at the buttcrack of dawn for Lynchburg, VA, where friends of ours will be putting us up the first night. Our destinations include Las Vegas, the California and Oregon coasts up to Seattle to visit my sister, a cousin in South Dakota, and other friends and family in between.

I'll try to post as often as I can, whenever we have a connection. I'm not one for words so it'll be more pictures than anything.

Here's some starting pics...

Starting mileage-

Our home for the next 3 weeks-

See you all later.

Day 2-
537 miles. Almost all slab.  Confused It was raining in Lynchburg when we left at 6:20am, so we decided to skip the BRP and eat up some miles on the interstate. It stopped raining when we got to Bristol, TN, and it looked like it was still raining south of us on the Dragon, so we kept going on Rt. 81 and ended up in Nashville. Some highlights of the day...

Nice so far.  Unfortunately the haze you see on the Skyline Drive is there pretty much all the time.  Such a shame as it really is a beautiful area.  There are some good cold days in the fall and winter though where it clears up nice and the view is spectacular.

Day 3-608 miles.
We were in 5 states today, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. About 200 miles of it was along the Mississippi River. We also crossed the Tennessee River, the Ohio, the Missouri, and countless other smaller ones. The worst part of the day...I can now join Connie droppers anonymous. Yep, I dropped it today.  Crazy That sucker is heavy with 3 weeks worth of gear. Oh well, if that's the worst that happens on this trip I'll be happy. Some pics from today...

The Mississippi...

Sorry to hear about the drop, hopefully it wasn't to bad, maybe your buddy can touch it up when he buffs out the grip glue. Hey, on a good note after your 3 week trip with 2 up and a ton of gear, when riding solo you'll be able to throw that beast around like a 600. Lol Hope you guys are ok, thanks for the pics, keep em coming.
BTW has the detector paid for itself yet? Lol Are you using the earphone jack? My first unit didn't have a earphone jack and and over 40mph (noise) I couldn't hear it. I had to keep looking down at it for a visual alert. Radio Shack sells an adapter from 3.5mm stereo female jack to 2.5mm male. That will let you plug in a cheap earbud for one or both ears.

Funny you should ask....

74 in a 65, and he gave me a $91 ticket. No grace in Colorado apparently.

We fought 40mph sustained winds all day, 557 miles. We're in Colorado Springs tonight, sprung for a nice hotel. Kansas was as flat as they say, although the Flint Hills were pretty cool, and there was a wind farm right off I70...

Those things are huge. I bet the props were 30 feet long.

This was our day for about 10 hours...

Then we saw this...
http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss341/Smokerbucket12/Day4031.jpg
That was our first glimpse of the Rockies.

`was down at Carl's last Saturday and folks were talk'n about how low the enforcers are writing tickets for. The though is that if the municipality can't get funding via the bad economy they'll amp up ticket writing.  Headscratch

I agree that 9 over is BS and would tell the officer that given the chance.  But don't assume that's why they are writing (more) tickets.  Many localities do not get any monies from the tickets written by officers.
