WILD CARD Phototag
«
on:
November 13, 2009, 10:53:21 PM »
I came across this idea on another forum and thought some here might be interested. I am posting it in Region 6, but will post links to it in the other regions as the intent is for it to be for anyone anywhere.
For all of you looking for a little something different-
For something to go riding for when all you have no better destination in mind--
Here is one that you can play every day. Its a WILD CARD TOR.
The premise is very much like a standard TOR, but is not location specific; I'll give you an example.
The point of the Wild Card tag is to reproduce the "theme" of the previous post. For example, I started this with an airplane. To grab the tag the first person to post a shot of their bike with a plane gets to choose the next "theme". It can be anything provided it is something that most would have access to.
Rules are easy...
1. Find a SIMILAR tag and reproduce the photo (as best as possible). Take the tag to a new location, get the photo and post it here.
2. Upon posting your new tag, the tagger is responsible for specifying what it is in the photo that must be reproduced. Be specific, but not so specific that no one else will be able to play because we couldn't find another pink school bus.
* Maintained gravel is OK, but make sure to let folks know that gravel is required to get to your tag. We don't want to exclude those who don't like to get dirty.
3. The first person to duplicate the theme gets to determine the next theme. If you get a tag, but somebody else posts their picture first, you have been Bruced. Post you shot anyway tellign use you have been bruced.
4. File photos are NOT permitted (except for the one I used to kick the game off
) . You must ride to play this game.
5. The motorcycle in the picture must get to the tag location under its own power (The Harley rule).
6. Last but not least, should the tag be so ridiculous that no one is able to reproduce it, it can be voted down if a majority of the active participants feel necessary.
YOU HAVE UP TO 24 HOURS FROM THE TIME YOU POST THE GRAB TO POST THE NEW THEME. AFTER 24 HOURS THE TAG IS UP FOR GRABS AGAIN. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO GRABBED TAGS. A DROPPED TAG CAN SIT AS LONG AS NEEDED.
REMEMBER, SPECIFY WHAT THE THEME IS.
Remember, the point of this is not to win the game, or get a better picture than the guy who just bruced you, the point is the ride. On that note, if someone tags a post office. Rather than get out and ride a block to my local post office, I might ride an hour or so, out to the historic post office a few towns over.... Make it interesting.
In standard practice file photos are discouraged (how can you really police it?), but I am going to use a file photo to get things rolling.
Given the wide area this game may cover, please tell us where your posting is located (city, state , country)even if it may be obvious from the photo.
To kick us off, Theme - Post office - This one is, as you can see, in Crapo Maryland -US

Nice! Well, except for the file photo
(you knew I had to say something)
I wonder if it wouldn't be worth putting this in General Sport-Touring Discussion?

Are we playing this game the right way, where the pic has to be new, taken after the last tag? Or are we just playing a photo game, in which case I could put up a photo I took a few months ago.

Photo must be taken after the new tag location is posted. YES, I did use a file photo to start the game, but seeing as the idea came to me at 2AM and it was simply to get the game going and I stated so in the OP I went with it. Rest assured that I wll not use any file photos for any other grabs or drops.
Clean up the rules a bit. Doing the OP at 2AM was probably not the best idea!

I would like to make a suggested rule change.
A tag cannot be reused for that specific idea. IE A rider cannot get the Crapo, MD post office but needs to get a different post office for the tag then can drop a new tag. I think this will keep the game moving along also.
I would like to see 36 hours instead of 24 but understand that the shorter time can make the game move along.
This is a good idea and can get the entire country involved

Honestly, I do not care if someone happens to grab the same location.
Additionally, I say that since MGoBlue posted his shots before I cleaned up the rules and clairifed a few things; his post stands and the new item is a piece of military equipment.
Keep in mind that each time the tag is dropped it can be a new theme.

I went with what I thought was the current tag since it was not a file photo even though they are not in full bloom.
I think we need a ruling on what is the current tag.

I say that since I got the non tag and the real tag. Or taggerd or bruced or what ever, that I have the right to place the tag. I say the cop car is good enough to end the confusion.
sodapop6620 place the next tag and move the game forward.
