2006 KLR650  - Modded For Adventure
Price Reduced to $3,500.

Well...I never thought I'd do it, but I'm ACTUALLY gonna sell my "faithful horse." Why? Because as much as I love it, and as many fantastic miles as I've experienced with it, I'm just not riding it much these days. I originally got it thinking I'd do more offroad riding; I did some, but not enough---and last year I got into mountain biking, which basically took the place of my offroad motorcycling jones.

As for pavement riding, the KLR is fine...but I also have a V-Strom 650, which is a better pavement bike (and I can take the V-Strom off-pavement in a pinch...if I'm careful!) I've also had dreams of a Copper Canyon ride or (even better) a ride to Argentina. I'm still definitely gonna do that before I die...but it's not gonna happen for a few years.

So here it is: a 2006 KLR650, modded to the hilt, made into a serious adventure bike. Garage-kept its whole life, and lovingly obsessed over by me (I'm the original owner). About 13,500 miles. No major crashes (I dropped it once at a standstill, and laid it down on a patch of ice at 20mph...but thanks to all the armor, it didn't sustain a scratch.) Runs great (especially after the 22-cent carb mod!).

I paid $5900 for the bike (new) in early 2007.
I invested at least another $2500 in mods (not to mention a hundred hours or so of labor).
So that makes $8800 I've put into it.
With depreciation, mileage, and 4 years of time...I'd say...
$4900 $4000 is a fair price.
I'm not likely to come down on the price Though I hated to do it, I came down on the price! But I still love this bike and aren't desperate getting a bit desperate for the money.  Lol (I wouldn't be upset if nobody wanted it!)

The title is clean, by the way. No strings attached.

I live near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
I don't have a trailer...so you'd either have to come to me, or I'd be willing to ride to meet you (distance negotiable).
PM or Email me if you're interested!

• A fun little sportbike
• A Ducati 748.  Bigsmile

Forgot to mention in my initial ad/post...

I'll consider a straight trade too!

I'd especially consider a trade for a better 2-up touring bike (something with more power than my DL650). So if you're looking to try a DS/Adventure bike...you might consider it!  Smile

Hi Fast Beemer...I might be up for a trade! Let me think about it for a day or two and I'll let you know (if you still haven't found a buyer).

Hi EZ Out...I like the Sprint...but alas, I can't handle the riding position (that's why I'm a V-Strom guy now!)

If you trade your KLR 650 for a V-strom 1000, I might be interested in buying your V-Strom 650 assuming my friend sells his DR650 to buy my ZR-7S.  Ah, springtime.

You need to take that paragraph outta the ad that says you aren't likely to come down on the price.

Sorry James...but I'm keeping the DL650 no matter what.  Smile If I traded the KLR for the DL1000, I'd just be a "2-Strom Guy." LOL (I wish I were selling the Wee-Strom though---seems like everybody's looking for one of those!)

If I was you I'd strip off the extras and sell them individually.  You'd probably make out in the long run since they are giving away KLR's.

Yeah, I know...I've thought about that. But honestly, I just don't want the hassle of all that! All the individual deal-making, shipping, etc...ugh.  Crazy

The thing is, unless you regard it as a "throwaway" bike and don't ride it seriously...when you buy a KLR you MUST do a lot of the mods to it that I've done. It's just that kind of bike. Granted, plenty of people just ride 'em bone stock...but I would never take a bone stock KLR on any kind of serious long-distance adventure ride. You need MODS for that, and LOTS of 'em!  Bigsmile

Well...seems $3500 was the "magic number"---got all kinds of emails from people wanting to buy the KLR...so a guy in Indiana will get an AWESOME deal!

I hate to see it go...but I felt better when I found out that it'll be the buyer's 2nd KLR---he's a hardcore IBA guy and long-distance rider. He said "I've already done all those mods to a KLR once and didn't want to do them all again."  Lol

I get emotional when I think of all the great times I've had on this bike...but it's just a bike, right? And if I ever get another dualsport for on/off-pavement riding, it's definitely gonna be something smaller like a DRZ or a WR250R.

And I've still got the Wee-Strom, which I love!  Inlove

I'm going to up the price on my ZR-7S to $3500 and see if it's magic for me too  Lol

Congrats on the sale, it's a very tough time to sell used bikes for some reason.  That was a good deal for someone at that price.
